Hit-Air airbag motorcycle jacket coming to USA
November 7th, 2005 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
The Hit-Air airbag motorcycle jacket, we wrote about back in May of this year, is coming to the US as the result of an agreement with Airprotek International. The Hit-Air jacket is manufactured in Japan, is available in a wide variety of styles and looks like one of those ideas someone should have come up with a long time ago. The jacket’s internal airbag is inflated instantly in the event of an accident when a tether, connected to the motorcycle, pulls out a pin on the jacket if you are thrown from the bike. The jacket has armor in all of the usual places and an additional airbag for protection of vital organs, your neck and most of your torso.
The consulting firm, Associated Partners, that deals with manufacturers and OEMs in the powersports industry, is exclusive sales representative in North America and plans to rapidly build a distribution channel for the jackets.
Although Honda introduced the airbag equipped motorcycle this year, the airbag jacket quickly makes airbag technology accessible to more riders and isn’t confined to one motorcycle if you own several. Looks like a nice product.
