Specialized Venom Bicycles

Specialized Venom BicycleIn the world of two wheel transportation, bicycles are pretty popular and with gas prices being what they are they may become more so. However, these Specialized Venom bicycles are built for racing and have been designed with extreme aerodynamics in mind. Just goes to show what a clean sheet of paper can turn into. Some of the designs also use technology we are seeing in motorcycles like hubless wheels. Take a look at these. They are definitely way out there, but I think they're neat.

The Gizmodo post has been updated: these bikes aren’t from Specialized. That doesn’t mean hubless isn’t dead-sexy.

The link states that the article was also originally posted November 2004.

When I posted about these, the joke had already been revealed. If you read the Gizmodo link, it talks about it and the April Fool spelled backwards, etc. As they noted, the illustrator, who I link to, had a whole Photoshop process about how he made the images which I thought was very neat. Verdra H. Ciretop made a joke out of Scott Robertson’s images, but it was the image set and how cool they looked that I was highlighting. Scott’s image making tutorial is the key here. Sorta like the car images I posted today. No one is saying those are real.
