Harley Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer
July 29th, 2005 at 6:02 am by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
Harley Davidson introduced it’s new models the other day but I missed this at first glance, the Harley Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Destroyer. Looks like Harley has a special division just like the car companies, CVO or Custom Vehicle Operations, is the secret skunk works facility which created this beast specifically for quarter mile duty.
The bike is not street legal and its 165+ horsepower is supposed to deliver sub 10 second quarter miles with the right racer in the saddle. It has lots of race specific items like a shut off tether, rear set footpegs and brake lever on the swingarm, solid struts, wheelie bar and it comes with a slick already mounted. It looks pretty cool. I’ll be interested to see how it performs. Available late 2005.
Not street legal … yeah, you gotta realize, someone is going to remove the wheelie bar and put a license plate and muffler on one of these bad boys…

… or you could go spend $15k (which will be probably a third of this puppy?) on a GSXR1000 and have (1) a street legal bike (2) that does sub-10 second 1/4-miles (3) and handles.
Hey, at least they’re innovating…

I think PETA would be interested in this. Why does HD feel the need to destroy Eagles? I would also think the department of homeland security would be interested in why HD was killing off the national bird. How unpatriotic.
And yes, Blalor, they are innovating: this one comes in red.
Must have more coffee…

Geez, you guys are a tough crowd!
Yep, a Gixxer or several other Japanese bikes will do that right out of the showroom but HD has never done one like this before so I give them credit for it. It certainly is a lot more performance than they usually offer. Maybe more of what they’ve done here will work it’s way into a future Drag-Rod or something that will be streetable and high performance. They’re workin’ on it, things are a little slow over there.
I think the name is neat.
