Uh-oh. Veteran turbomeister, Terry Kizer “Mr Turbo,” is introducing a turbo kit for the ZX-14 to be available in April. Mr Turbo made the kit, over 10 years ago for the ZX-11 that Sport Rider rode to 230mph and pushed every magazine writer into overdrive as they searched for words to describe what he had produced. Now, with Kawasaki bringing out their most powerful motorcycle ever, he’s also bringing out a turbo kit just for good measure.
The limitation back then was the ZX-11 chassis which got a bit twisted and loose when the turbo went to work. Ten years later, chassis building has made huge leaps forward and this beast may do what they only dreamed of back then. Reading all of the recent press tryouts of the new Kawasaki, the big Ninja was propelling relatively inexperienced moto journalists down the dragstrip in mid nine second territory. Just think what the pros will do.
This should be interesting and the Hayabusa crowd may have to retune just a bit when these start to roll out on the street. Yep. I like it.

Great. Now all I need to do is buy a house a quarter mile away from work. That way I can get to work in 9 seconds.
Give me a break, what a waste. And all this talk about high mileage vehicles and saving the planet. I guess saving the planet is only for cars.

Lighten up Todd. The ZX-14 will have no effect on any planet and wasn’t intended to. It is an engineering flagship that demonstrates what a company can do and it’s quite impressive. We love extreme performance around here, absolutely no apologies, and the ZX-14 delivers. Add a turbo? You betcha.
By the way, in road tests of the ZX-14, some journalists report readings as high as 50mpg with the onboard computer! A little added bonus if someone buying the big Ninja was wondering about those things.

Sorry for the rant. I guess it just seems motorcycle companies are building fewer and fewer motorcycles and more and more toys.

My 2006 ZX14 gets 33 MPG back and forth to work. My ZX11 gets 45 MPG on the same route.
