As we noted last week, 2 Wheel Tuesday wrapped up and the SpeedTV program schedule was shuffled around a bit. A new program, Super Bikes, aired for the first time this week. It’s aimed at the young male rider according to the SpeedTV web site.
Here’s how they describe it:
Each episode of “Super Bikes!†is produced to mirror the edgy, fast paced lifestyle of today’s young motorcycle enthusiasts. POV cameras and the hottest music combined with an insider’s perspective will make “Super Bikes!†a “must see†for today’s young adult male biker. “Super Bikes!†delivers the kick that today’s motorcycle industry and consumer will embrace.
Looks like I’ve slipped into the older segment because this show leaves me cold. High speed lane splitting in the city along with wheelies, burnouts and general behavior that gives sportbikers a bad image is not my idea of anything the “motorcycle industry and consumer will embrace.” They had a segment with a bike club where they were told tales of the tough streets and the fights and how cool that is. Really?
It was their first show so maybe they’re still figuring out what they want to do but since they probably have a number of weeks already done, this might be a real loser. This is what SpeedTV thinks the sportbike crowd is like? Tell me again, who were they trying to attract?

The Kneeslider: 2 Wheel Tuesday No More
Jason says
Saw the show. Not that impressed. It’s true that this will do nothing but strengthen the biker stereotype in a bad way. Don’t get me wrong, I think that stuff is cool, but it should be kept underground and not in mainstream. I race (CCS), I ride a streetfighter, a cruiser, and a motard. I’m totally guilty of riding like an idiot sometimes, but I don’t advertise it to everyone, especially the police. They need to cut out the illegal footage and leave that to the video/dvd market. I hope they do something, there are no current shows geared towards the race/sportbike scene.
Jason says
Oh yea, great site by the way. This site would easily convert to t.v. format. So when does the first episode air?
drew nelson says
The producers of this travesty should be forced to do some ambulance ride alongs. Nothing like endangering the general public to get your sub adolescent kicks. If you really are that good a rider,Infineon is right over the bridge. Come out and prove it, instead of acting like an @#$% on the street. i totally understand the urge cagers get to just knock these dimwit stunters into the bay.

I thought speedtv was more responsible but I guess not. This a terrible show that high-sides the motorcycling community back to the 50’s.
I guess the largest growing segment of motorcycling (female riders) just does not have enough demographic. Can we have a good Bike news show?
BYW Great website
kneeslider says
A TV show for female riders? Not a bad idea, James. As the post we had here “What do women motorcyclists want?” pointed out, women still have a few problems finding the right gear or motorcycles that suit them. That sort of show could cover all of those problems, provide a few possible answers and highlight some female riders who have been at it for a while, maybe a racer or two. Yep, not a bad idea at all.
Butch says
SpeedTV got rid of Two Wheel Tuesday and gave us Superbikers. That’s like buying tickets to The Worlds Fastest Indian and then being forced to watch Torque and Biker Boys instead.
electricmotorcycles.net says
Good analogy, Butch. The show starts off with one of the hosts saying the show is about “the” sportbike life style. Not this sportbikers lifestyle!
Imagine how that meeting went:
Executive A: Hey Bob! I got a great idea! Let’s get rid of that program that exposes thousands of people to the different motorcycle disciplines and motorcyclists acting in mature and responsible ways. Oh what’s the name of that show…?
Intern A: Two Wheeled Tuesday, sir.
Executive A: Don’t speak unless spoken to, son. You’re fired. So we get rid of that show with Gary White…
Intern B: That’s Greg White, sir.
Executive A: You’re fired. And we replace it with a program showing dumb-ass adrenaline junkies doing stupid and illegal stunts! We’ll invest in intensive care and trauma centers and companies that cater to closed head injuries! We’ll be rich!
Executive B: Brilliant!
Yes Men: Brilliant!
Tor says
As soon as Fox bought SpeedTV aside from getting rid of a variety of motorsports coverage to push NASCAR ad nauseam they’ve created juvenile drivel like this. The rare times they have motorcycle coverage I usually pass on it because I have no desire to watch a week old race. At this point Spike TV is more highbrow. If it wasn’t for F1 I would’ve forsook the NASCAR channel long ago.

Paul,
a show with your direction behind the content would be excellent.
I can go on in a very blunt way against the Dweeb Channel, but Jason’s suggestion is too good to let that discussion get in the way of something extremely positive.
The topics are endless.
Within the material for documentaries alone, there is a ton of don’t-miss programming:
John Britten, Jim Feuling, Burt Monroe, Honda Soichiro, Drysdale, Michael Czysz, etc. Then there is all of the current topics found within this site….
hoyt says
ha! I wasn’t positive if Fox was behind this crap, but that explains a lot!
Jason says
Project Plan:
“The Kneeslider” 30min. weekly show. Get the pilot together via contributions (donated skills, money, content, ect..) from the readers.
I’m a multimedia/graphic/video artist/rider that would lend my skills.
After the pilot is made, we get readers to buy time on local cable stations all over to air the show. Spread the word. If the costs are reasonable, keep producing shows until popularity grows and someone picks up the show.
Results:
A show for bikers(all types) by bikers. A guaranteed winner. Count me in if you ever want to pursue this.

Honestly, 2-wheel tuesday was boring. The host wasn’t captivating. Focused a little too much on racing, with small product bits thrown in. Better than the chopper BS on tv, but not really worth watching. This show *looked* like it might be okay… Host- SUX. Not a bike-rider at all… I’m totally not convinced. The streetfighters were cool, and the two shops were interesting to see, but the stunts, ignorant street-manners, and lastly, the jackasses @ the clubhouse… I’ll not be watching it again. Too bad, B/C it’s gonna raise a whole new ‘culture’ of riders, just like american chopper did. “Did you see the guys on superbike last nite??? Man, I’m gonna do that wheelie down the 405 on my way to work… that’s SOOO COOL!”
fkn’ morons…

2 wheel tuesday (Yes, it did start with ‘2’, just ask Tivo) was almost f-ing perfect. All about everything 2 wheels, across the whole spectrum. Yes I watched a lot of it in fast-forward, but I watched every episode. I now have NO bike-oriented news show. Thanks for nothing, Speed asses.
Stupor-bikes?? Oh, please. I watched the first 30 seconds of the opener. They said “we’re going to show you stuff you SHOULDNT do at home!” no less than three times, and then five seconds of the opening audio-video song/title vomit killed it completely for me.
Keep going, Speed. You lost the WRC, and punted Greg White; drop Formula One and I will be down to ZERO reasons to tune you in. Buh-bye!

I’m new to “superbikes” but I cut my teeth on enduros and dirtbikes as a kid. I own a 600rr and have been riding for it for a short time. I have been watching Superbikes on SpeedTV now for a while and it has had some mildly entertaining moments. I have friends in the medical community who have had the grim duty of watching over “would be” stunt kings as they draw their last breaths and earn their wings to fly off into oblivion from another episode of, “when dumb@%# stunts go bad….REAL BAD.” I’m not a hater, I love to see people and good ideas succeed. However, I’d like to know how I can ride safer, how I can raise people’s awareness of riders on the street. How I can meet and talk to other people who just wanna enjoy the ride. I wanna know where I can get custom rims for my 600rr and how to protect it from a thief. I see more women on bikes, I wanna know what they think too. In short, where do the mature 2 wheels on the ground at all times riders go?

I like the show SuperBikes. If you do not like something on tv,just turn the dam thing off,or better yet, push the button and change the channel. There are all ready to many people that want to dictate what you watch or do.USA is FREE Country right?????? or is it.

are you kidding me. this show is great and hopefully will attract more and more people to ride street bikes. you cant deny that high speed lane splitting and burnouts and wheelies are all a part of riding sport bikes. just because you dont do it doesnt give you the right to look down on them for doing it.

I actualy like the show, and I am no kid. A lot of the comments i have read here sound like people who are jealous that they don’t have the same control over a mc. I am DEF not the typical viewer for this show, I am 50, white, white collar, had ridden since i was nine and until recently had only big Harleys. (though I had had my share of japanese litre bikes.) I have a 2005 Duc 749 and won’t be going out to wheelie or stoppie it any time soon. Still I like the show. Jason Britton isn’t bad as a host and is a great stunter. He kind of looks like Seal with a good voice for tv. The thing that annoys me most about the show is the poor shooting (editing is mostly good) and the gawd awful audio quality. Terrible. Again, I don’t split lanes or anything, but most of the people killed on bikes these days are either stupid kids, or frankly worse, men my age who go out and buy a big harley, their first ever mc. A disaster in the making because no matter how smart you think you are…the kind of handling abilities you need to rid safe, those stunters have in droves…it is the lack of these skills that kills most motorcyclists involved in accidents
scotyount says
I also want to say that the better you are at riding a motorcycle, the better your chances of avoiding an accident. Motorcycles are fun. Unlike a dishwaswer, a tv, a car or a computer, nobody “needs” a mc. There is a bit of danger and even outlaw characteristic within bikes and some of us love that. Somebody said earlier that this tv show was sending motorcycling back to the 50s. That is prolly true to some extent, GIs came home from world war II to boring lives and motorcycles put some of the excitement back in. Suffice it to say that I like a little danger in my mc riding though i in no way encourage anyone to ride like a fool. Some people should just go home, wrap themselves in bubble wrap, put on a helmet and googles and watch some lifetime channel.

I think is the best show on television.
On one of the resent shows about drag racing, i was wondering what did they just to spray on the radiator to cool down the bikes when it over heated thanks!

I love the show it’s one of the best. get your edrenalin flowing ride smart be safe. the show is vary educational it might teach someone a thing or two and its already bringing together all types of riders.you’ll always have a few misfits that will spoil it for the rest. gyno they probley sprayed nitrous oxide to cool it down this can be dangerous
Barb Hansen says
I love the show! There are parts where I have to catch my breath, but Jason, articulate and humorous, emphasizes the need for caution, proper clothing and experience before attempting anything on the show. He presses the need for proper equipment for all types of riding. Believe me, I’m no expert having got my first bike at age 63 and a Grandma, but SuperBikes! gives me a thrill I’ll never experience myself and I admire those who have the control of themselves and their bikes to achieve such amazing results.
Jason and the other riders, crew or public, give me confidence that I CAN make that next corner smoothly if I am looking ahead, sitting properly and I’m with the bike. Please continue throwing in the hints that will keep us all sane, safe, and satisfied with our chosen field of riding.
Thanks!

ok hugh “?” on the show intro for super bikes, WHAT is the 4 wheeler that IS GRAY COLOR a guy and a girl ride on it… HELP, PLZ, let me know….

I really like jason, but…. Black Bike Week at Myrtle Beach? Eeeeewwwwww!
1. A 3 foot bootie in a bikini on a sportbike is disgusting.
2. What is with this East Coast thing with the bike clubs, vests & all that crap? No wonder the public sees motorcycles in a poor light!
Stephen says
One other thing. Why do the call it “Superbikes”? The show has nothing to do with that… only hooiganisms and stunting. I don’t get it. Jason is cool, though.
