Many years ago, I wrote about a fellow who converted a Legend race car into a street legal hot rod and the finished machine looked great and generated a lot of interest. Cruising through the eBay listings, I just noticed there’s a Legend Racer up for sale, a 1937 Ford version, completely street legal, but this one was converted from a brand new racer, it never saw any track duty, brand new racer to brand new mini street rod. It looks pretty cool.
If you’re not familiar with these racers, they’re scaled down cars that look like older classics and they have motorcycle engines for power. This one sports a 140 horsepower, 1250cc Yamaha engine and it runs through a 5 speed transmission with reverse!
This one has everything, all the gauges, lights and turn signals you would expect in a street legal car, on a 73 inch wheelbase that’s 60 inches wide, 10 1/2 feet long and weighing 1100 pounds. The American Racing 13 inch 5 lug wheels are an up-grade over the standard 4 lug Legend alloy wheels and they’re wrapped in 205/60 13 inch rubber. There’s a 5-gallon racing fuel cell, coil overs with Bilstein shocks and a whole lot more. The owner put 11,000 street miles on the car and again, this is no repurposed track warrior, it was converted brand new.
You don’t need a lot of garage space to squeeze this baby in there, in fact there’s only room for one in the car itself, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in fun. If you can’t afford some high dollar street rod, this might be just the ticket. It’s for sale on eBay. sale over
