By now, most of you have seen the Smartuki, the GSXR1000 powered Smart car previously owned by Peter Bee and designed and built at Z Cars. That amazing little 180hp rocket was quite the car. If you’ve followed things here, you also know the Smartuki was up for sale and has since been sold. At the present time, the original Smartuki has gone to Sweden and is being used as part of another project. So what happened to the plans for a Z Cars Smartuki kit?
Z Cars have been so busy building their very popular motorcycle powered cars they couldn’t quite seem to get the kit together. Well, according to Gizmag, it looks like Bill Allen, one of the individuals involved in creating the kit, has purchased the whole project from Z Cars and struck out on his own.
The new kit will be called the “Smart Attak” and will be produced by Allen in the UK. He’s almost at design freeze so kits can then be assembled. Complete kit minus the engine will be around $10,500 dollars plus any taxes. Although the original Smartuki had decals and all sorts of other indications you were dealing with something far out of the ordinary, a Smart Attak could look completely innocent except for the wide tires. Of course, light up the engine and you give it away. We’ll be eager to see the first kit built Smart Attak on the road.
