Some of you may have missed the new video Aniket made of his Royal Enfield Musket V-Twin, … he added pipes. The little shorties worked during the shakedown runs but you really need to hear the sound of this twin with the long pipes to believe it. Sweet! They look good, too. Have I mentioned how much I like this project?
UPDATE: Aniket sent in photos with the new exhaust and twin mufflers installed. He tried a 2 into 1 but couldn’t get the right look so he opted for the 2 into 2.
UPDATE 2 – 1000cc! – Aniket has redesigned the Musket to use 500cc barrels, see the announcement here.

really amazing project, truly inspiring…is it just me or did it sound like the clutch was slipping?

Sounds fantastic =)

Nice! I suspect that Enfield could sell a good number of these in the U.S. and Europe were they to adopt his design.

That thing sounds like a section of an old Continental radial engine from a Stearman. LOVE it.

Unfortunately,as a new bike it’d never pass EPA & safety regs etc.etc.
However, a conversion kit for existing bikes is another story.
And there are thousands upon thousands of Enfields out in the world..

My god Paul!
You posted an update! This is just too awesome for words. I have made further progress on the exhaust and the classic “old brit” mufflers are going on today, I will send the first pic to you as soon as it is done!

Too much power for the clutch?
fearnow says
he said ‘orgasmic’. That rocks, indeed.
as someone who wants to like REs, this is a very cool project!
Tim says
So impressive. Great job!
Greybeard says
Was thinking clutch too, but Aniket that is a stunning accomplishment!
Difficult enough for folks who’ve been machining for years (ahem) but the engineering too is just mind blowing.
Well done!
A 1000 next perhaps?
Mehul Kamdar says
Absolutely intoxicating sound! This is a dream project in how its working out. Hope the design is offered by Aniket or adopted by Enfield in case he decides not to go ahead with it.
Fantastic!
aniket vardhan says
Hi guys!
The clutch is definitely letting go under hard acceleration, am probably going to try the 5 plate clutch with heavy springs- should do it I think.
Thanks so much for your really kind words!

That sounds amazing. I want one.
Aniket vardhan says
Thank you again guys!
I cannot tell you how much your appreciation means to me. This project meant taking a plunge into unfamiliar territory, quitting a stable job and not really knowing it would work. All I knew for sure was that if I didn’t do it, I would never be happy. I certainly didn’t expect that so many of you would like it too!
bill b says
The adaptation of the second cylinder sure makes for a terrific sound. I miss the old Interceptor but like this bikes retro look.

looks great, sounds great, most importantly, goes great. It looks factory, in a good way.
Great work!

My opinion has completely changed and I now posess an indescribable, possibly unhealthy and dangerous urge to own one! Pity the clutch but that’s an easy fix. I have a smile a mile wide.
Hammerspur says
Aniket, fine work indeed!
HD Sporters, instead of looking so high & short should bear the proportions your Musket does!
I second the motion for a 1000… “Magnum Musket?”
Matt Fisher says
My 10 year old son said “that thing’s really cool”. I wholeheartedly agree, and add that it’s a beautiful motorcycle. Aniket, you’re an artist.
mike says
love it!! i would buy one of these in a minute if they were too become available.
dan says
Wow! Some times we must look to the past for inspiration. That thing is ride able and looks great, comfy too. That thundering v-twin sounds perfect. My favorite engine remains the 70’s KZ 1000. That was a big engine with frame and with some modifications it handled too. What a rush of power. This creation however pulls on the same heartstrings and is closer to my need for a classic bike that gets me there with power if needed! Great job!
Ricky Kahlon says
It looks complete now with the silencer and looks great plz attach the latest video

It has a little bit of an Indian feel to its looks

I gotta hear those peashooters man! The bike sounds awesome with the long pipes, the mufflers should mellow it out nicely.

Very Cool. This is the type of Enfield I would spend money on! Wow.
Great looks, great sound! Any chance Enfield might pick it up? Where do I sign!

Jose Bustamante Alvarez deLa Cadena says
Very beautiful and inspiring project. A great testament to the vision and perseverance of the creator. There is really nothing to compare it to.I love the sound. I ride a 500 Triumph, 1969. This sounds 500% better. We must encourage Aniket to facilitate a conversion kit for the rest of us. (That would be quite a kit!) Thank you, Jose.

Would you possibly setup shop back home in India to make this engine?
I hope you answer my prayer!!!!! 🙂

Hi guys!
Thank you again! Still delighted to read your very encouraging comments!
I’m keen to build these engines on order for enthusiasts, am looking into the logistics, legal stuff, pricing etc.
Stay tuned for more info, will get a website up with technical detals, story, etc.
Meanwhile, email me at winsomniac@yahoo.com with questions.
Thanks!

Hello Aniket !
Your project is very interested !!
I have sending you some more information about my person.
I saw the pictures of the engine and I would chance the ignition to a special pic up in combination with a injection system. The end of this project could be a classic motorcycle with the modern emisson Norm, so you can offer it all over the world !
My 750cc Bullet get this year the injection system.
Nice wishes for your elegant solution.

Just waiting for the kit and pricing . How would it act with a sidecar ? Heat etc.

Hi Aniket
Just came accross your story today quite by accident. I,ve been an Enfield Dealer for four years now and absolutley love them for all the same reasons you do. I can’t begin to express my joy! and admiration for your accomplishment. It is gorgous!!! If Royal Enfield isn,t seriously considering you for employment their fools. And Royal Enfield I can sell this. The two things I wanted to see Enfield do was make the bike slighty longer and check the vibration with out loosing the soul of the bike ie. the original stock arrangment. Your engine is the icing on the cake. I.ve always had a soft spot for the sound of an old Harley Pan head of all the models ever produced in my opinion the Pan sounded the best. You have just changed my mind. A 700 Enfield V-twin just took first place. Again ENFIELD I can SELL this and it would make it a more viable sidcar setup. The new enfield motor is real nice, but it looks like the bonniviles sad transformation all the engines visuals lost. And we like to tinker It makes us whole!! This engine moves me and I’m not easily moved. I to want one. But you will have to build with the 500 jugs. I’m sure you can handle that. I CHEERED when I heard it run.
Would love to talk shop with you sometime before you get to famous.
Bravo and congradulations
Dave V

Just saw your story for the first time. Beautiful work man! The sound is killer and the classic look of the Enfield still remains. I spent 5 weeks in India in1998, visiting with my now ex-wifes family in Goa. I rented a 350 bullet for 7 american dollars a day. What a fantastic way to tour the beautiful countryside and beaches of Goa! Even though the marriage did not last, I will always treasure the trip, the bike was a blast. I own a 2001 harley dynaglide and a 1973 triumph T140 (which I have owned since 1985, really love that old Triumph) . Anyway, congradulations on your beautiful build, sounds like you put your heart and soul into the bike.
Tom Hayes says
Aniket!!! Fantastic job.
Guys here in the U.K. would love to get their hands on one of your potential conversion kits?..
Unfortunately due to crap Euro emmission rules a carburettor model could never be sold new.. It would need to be EFI etc etc with stupid silencers… But conversion to existing bikes would be a different matter entirely..
I had a 70’s Indian built Bullet which I tuned to attain 90MPH and now have a 1959 Redditch built 700 Constellation.. 52 BHP so pretty close to your power output.
I have had clutch slip problems too so i switched to a dry clutch and belt drive and that cured my woes.. might work on your dream machine too.. Fantastic job mate keep up the work..

I want to make mine as yours one so will you plz help me……..
Plz launch your website soon…………..

woah… i thought it’d be a neat idea if enfield made a v twin out of their existing parts… that’s how vincent came up with their black shadow… but i had no idea that two people had already done that… (http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2008/12/22/carberry-enfield-double-barrel-v-twin/)
i think i like the vintage style seat on this one better, but… being as tall as i am, i think i’d need something with a higher seat than that… more like the carberry enfield i guess…
now we just need some old guy to do with one of these what burt munro did to his indian scout 😀
Venu says
Aniket awesome work
Let me know when you are making clones of this MuskBull.
So that I can have one !!
Aniket Thanks for bringing alive something which even I have been dreaming ,

very very very nice job. It’s the most beautiful neo vintage bike I’ve ever seen with the Carberry Enfield and the Mac motorcycle prod. (I’ll call yours the Vardhan Royal Enfield Musket 700 or Vardhan Musket “Double-Gun” Royal Enfield ). I saw your smile, in the presence of god, you’re in the flow man. I just had an orgasm of joy hearing the sound of it. Everything is nice, the curve of pipes too. (I’ll have chosen finished by one and curved up, parallel to the red box -sorry too much jap lessons) There is a sense of balance in this bike, the beauty of 350 engines, the flat tank. I will have changed the rounded turn lights, but I am crazy, you use as much Enfield parts as possible.
Please, reup a vid with completed pipes, craving, drooling for this sound. Do you think to Fi it? Tell us the cost of one aprox. What do you need to start prod. Did you contact enfield? or them you? Do you ask for FBI protection? sorry for my english
What a good work, can’t beleive my eyes. God of bikers and muskets (the same?) bless you always.
You know, caribbean pirats used to make friends by drinking their blood mixed with gun powder. Like your bike, black and red. You’re a transformer. Please post.

You built a very nice machine. don’t be sad coz carberry and other RE V-twins, don’t compare. Your project is far far nicer and balanced. Really looks like a RE proud production. Change Na ting. (or with a pillion saddle – I am coming).
I can imaging your joy (I can’t leave this page. 2 hours now). I compare it to the moment when god created a flower. What a special thing, moment. I envy you.
bye now

Aniket bie ji job well done. should start your own production line, like me lots of people love RE and always wanted more power different looks, but had some extreme kira to go ahead and design ur own engine. hats off man .

Aniket, I’d buy this sort of a bike in a heartbeat! Do you have any intentions of putting this bike into production, or, selling kits? As someone else here said, YOU’RE THE MAN!!!. I’m curious, what is your background? Are you a mechanical engineer, mechanic, or…?
Dokodeko says
Hi,
super precise job with a lot of passion in it. How much do you think it will cost, many friends interested. Also, it’ll be much easier to give the job to Royal Enfoiled India (and much cheapert too). If you plan to do it yourself, why don’t you do like Indian motor Cie, they create vintage bikes but with new colors and this new old touch we all like.

Hi Guys!
Still groggy from the entire month of doing a complete tear down and repaint on the bike…every bone in the ol’ body hurts but she looks good!
Got back from Mid Ohio last evening- soaking wet and cold from the downpour but very very happy after meeting so many new friends of the Musket! Thanks for the comment Brian!
My utter idiocy at Mid Ohio- had a camera on me but was so excited to tell people that it wasn’t infact a vintage restoration but a home-made project that I forgot to take a single pic…ofcourse, the pouring rain didn’t help either.
http://www.musketvtwin.com has gotten online, will be adding more info and pics soon, now that I actually have some more time after finishing the bike. My new email address is musketvtwin@gmail.com.
Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

I must tell you that I am quite amazed by this motorcycle. It gives a retro feel yet also very unique. I really feel that this bike may be the alternative a lot of bikers have been looking for, specially the riders who want something other than a HD. Personally, I am very very curious about the final price. As they say in real estate “price cures everything”
One other note, ok, if this was available now, yes, I would buy one. Only one modification I can think of…………………..jockey shifter
Congrats, a terrific job well done, really well done.
BShaan says
Hey …this looks just …awesome ,
Hope it handles the same way as the orginal does.
Few things I noted here is …. how the engine was synchonised with the gear box … was the gear box modified ..and it seems that the overall length of the Beast has been increased to 4-5 inch plus .
Thirdly are the electrics the same ??? I mean sure have to adjust the timing for both blocks .
Great work gus …

aniket has done a miracle fot he bullet…
the life cycle of a product is a curve… when the sales keep increasing with all the promotional strategies till a peak is reached and thereafter the sales start dropping this is where the modifications to the bikes comes the may be some cosmatics etc….etc enfield has tried everything possible under the roof and now the classic…
it is high time they buy up / take the help of aniket to give a fillip to their old armoury….it could work wonders for the enfield

This is a nice mid size scoot and would go good with a cozy sidecar,it can be build in China or India cost effective, and I,m sure Lifan would produce the power plant also would go good in a Trike as the Warrior 250cc by ice bear or magic vehicle, the top feed oil supply lines need to be worked in along the cylinders for a cleaner look ,although this would be a big hit in the market weather in a Trike,Sidecar or motorcycle.Hands down a nice job done.
