Roger Allmond has turned out some very nice customs like the T Bob and the XYZ. Now, under the sponsorship of Bennetts Insurance, he’s working on a custom powered by the 2.3 liter Triumph Rocket 3 engine. Motorcycle News has a few in progress photos up and it looks a lot better, in my eyes, than some previous customs based around this engine.
This will be interesting to see when it’s finished and if it looks good, maybe a few other builders will take a shot at it. I think it just takes one guy to show it can look good before anyone else joins in. The engine just doesn’t seem at first glance like an ideal starting point for a custom. It looks like Roger might pull it off.
Thanks for the tip, Andy.

Looks sweet so far, can’t wait to see more of this.

I’m stoked to see someone finally taking this on. I’ve always thought the engine should be in something smaller and as sporty as one can get it.
With a light weight chassis & wheels, you’ll need to use, what?… 2 gears on most of your rides?
3 gears for the straights

bummer…the video link confirmed that too wide rims will be used. It looks like a wide front rim will be used as well.

That engine is just nuts. It’s a bigger engine — and making 50% more power and torque — than the engine that was in my first *car*.
Yes, please. And there’s just something inherently cool about an engine with three cylinders.

I can’t help but think Geo Metro when I hear “three cylinder”
Sorry, it’s just me, right?
Chris says
You know, I never thought the Metro was much of a car, but with the proper exhaust system and a decent transmission, that engine…nah, who am I kidding? Nothing could help that wheezing wimp :-p
OK, *besides* that :-p

When I think 3 cylinders I think K75.
If he does a good job of it, I’ll stop thinking K75 and start thinking Rocket3.
No one should ever think Geo Metro. Ever.
If you do it too often your junk will begin to shrink. You’ve been warned.

um, you guys don’t know what you’re talking about. That stupid little Geo Metro was built by our beloved Suzuki and has a tremendously reliable engine (as for the rest of the car…).
In fact I wouldn’t hesitate trusting my life in one if it was powering an airplane like they do here:

triples to me mean Jota

I’ve always wondered what that behemoth of a powerhouse would look like in a sportier chassis. It would probably need the wide wheels, it’s awfully good at rolling the bike when you wind on the throttle.

Nice design on exhaust!! Manufactured in house? Looking for same for my Rocket.Would you help me out?? Thanks!
