Have a favorite racetrack? Want a subtle way of letting everyone know where your head’s at? Racetrack Style makes stainless steel zipper pulls, earrings and keyring pendant/bottle openers in the outline of various tracks around the world, just so you can show a little of your inner speed.
The company was started by Doug Staab, one of our regular readers and occasional contributors, who says all of these items are made in the USA. Pretty neat.
Contact your favorite track and ask for them. A few of the track retail stores are available from his site at the link below.

Nice idea, as long as your favourite race tracks from around the world are in the US. Couldn’t see a Spa, Nurburgring, Monaco, Monza? Bloody awful website though, gave up trying to find a way to buy a keyring- Links to the stores don’t actually sell them as far as I can see.
Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider" says
He’s just getting started and the stores will have links soon. He’ll be adding more tracks as time goes on.
Racetrack Style says
Hello Ian – thanks for the feedback. We sell directly to tracks so that is why there is no purchase functionality directly from our site. We help the tracks promote the idea up until they have updated their own retail site and going forward we will keep all the tracks’ links in one central spot on our site.
As Paul mentioned we are working with tracks from around the world. While these tracks are making their decision, I wanted to provide a means for race fans to contact their favorite track and ask for them.
Should be a great season throughout the various series.
Thanks –
Doug

I think you have hit on a great idea here Doug. As rohorn mentioned though, it would enhance the product if you could incorporate the 3rd dimension. After al, we know that some of the world’s greatest tracks go up and down too.
When we understand that this venture is just starting, we can appreciate the initial lack of product but also the potential. Certainly the home market will be looking for US tracks but please, get those dies cut for the other great tracks of the world too. There are so many fans of F1, MotoGP and even Drag Racing (Those should be easy to make).
May I suggest that you contact Sir Stirlin Moss too. This is just the kind of stuff that will appeal to him for his online store. An endorsement wouldn’t hurt either.
Best of luck in the venture and I look forward to more and more sales outlets.

I’d love a Nürburgring or a Monaco. Great idea, surprised no one thought of this before really.

An Isle Of Man TT one?
Mike1200 says
I’d be all over that one! Hope it’s not too big to wear 🙂

Hope to see one of Watkins Glen in the future. Nice product.

Neat stuff, Doug! I could use a High Plains Raceway buckle, with elevation changes and camber.
On the other, uh, hand, running my finger along the buckle while making motorcycle noises in public might be a bad idea. Maybe it would be better if my wife was wearing the pendant and I traced the racing line, “high sided”, then ran off course, uh, nevermind….

Now you’re talkin! 🙂

The Kneeslider gave us an opportunity to reach consumers and track managers to accelerate the concept. The above comments are good indications that race fans would like track accessories in addition to t-shirts and hats.
Our turn-around time is short, so any race track manager from around the world can contact us and we’ll get them available.
Thanks for commenting & see you at the track!

Don’t forget to cross-market…there’s a couple of tiny little fast-food places that love to hype their own sales to the kids with race related products as loss-leaders. Ever hear of McDon’s or Burger K?? And now that I’ve made that mention, a little slice of a royalty check would greatly improve my chances of a new bike in the future!! Love your idea and the product looks great. I’m writing to Laguna Seca for mine.

Road America’s key chain | bottle opener is available now (just waiting on their site to be updated).

An IOM piece could be used as a campfire grate.
Hooligan says
Thumbs up, another good use for it.
SteveD says
I’ll be at VIR in June. Any key chains there yet? Nice idea, BTW.
Doug says
Hi SteveD – Thanks. I’ve contacted them (and the others above). Nice track.

Subtle is right. This is about the coolest way to show appreciation for a track possible. Very cool

Thanks a lot!
All – we are working with an online warehouse. If it works out, we’ll be able to offer more variety sooner. I’ll let Paul know.

fyi, fifteen52 had this for a while (and i wouldn’t be surprised if this site stole it from them). and no I don’t work for them 😛

Got a heads-up about this article, and I think the concern was that we were being “ripped off.”
We started http://www.race-tags.com back in 2008 as a division of fifteen52. Several tracks currently offer our products with more in consideration.
I won’t try to say we had the most original idea in the world, or that we’ve had our designs copyrighted, but we most definitely were first to market.
At the end of the day, though, competition is a good thing. Doug, we wish you well with your endeavors 🙂

carbon fiber photo backdrop and all. Too bad but I guess there’s nothing you can do about it.

Hello Noriko – I did an extensive search prior to pursuing this concept and didn’t come across anything on google or at various tracks (numerous online stores too). After this article ran, I did come across Watkins Glen’s site that has a track outline key chain. Understandably we aren’t the first, but I want to be clear that nothing I have done was “ripped off” from your efforts or anyone else’s.
As far as the use of carbon fiber backdrop – when I built the site, I randomly used various parts of my cycle to get a close-up picture and decided the fender worked the best.
Doug says
Todd and Serge- there was absolutely no copying done at all, not even the use of cf as a backdrop. I’ve never heard of the above site.
I also never heard of the folks doing wall-sized track art until after I started Racetrack Style. Their cool stuff can be found on Griot’s Garage
Nariko- best wishes to you as well!

Sorry, Noriko. (using a \smart\ phone that auto corrects)
