Here’s another very cool cafe racer built in the Norvin tradition, except this Norton featherbed frame has a Harley Davidson Sportster engine for power, leading the builder, Buck Pilkenton, to twist his acronym making powers to the max to come up with the name, Nortley Fartster (NORTon harLEY FeAtheRbed sporTSTER). Hey, it works!
The Nortley Fartster has been around for a few years and it is one of those very cool garage projects just dripping with personality. A 1988 Sportster 1200 is the powerplant, a Norton featherbed frame gives it a place to rest, one of the coolest ever home made kick starters fires it up and you have a bike that will not be seen anywhere else. Ride this anywhere and you’ll be the focus of attention, no megabuck chopper would stand a chance.
The photos on eBay are pretty muddy but there are a few articles on the Internet, including one from Cycle World, with cleaner pics. I like this a lot. He’s also asking a lot but for a custom with this much personality built in, it’s a bargain.

I’ve always thought that the kickstarter on this build is as cool as all get out.

Maybe Jay price-is-no-object Leno will pick it up, in part out of appreciation for Buck’s sense of humor : )

That kickstarter is the pure definition of what an awesome kickstarter should be. Looks almost steampunk…

I WAS ALWAYS TOLD, THERES NO WAY TO PUT A KICK STARTER. ON A EVO SPORTERS. I JUST LOVE IT. ARE THERE ANY PLANS ON HOW IT WAS DONE?
