My post the other day on helmet safety referred to the Hurt Report, a study from some years ago that examined real world motorcycle crashes, how they happened, what the circumstances were, who was involved, all of the things you might want to know to protect yourself or to design better safety gear.
The AMA notes that the new highway bill includes funding for a new study of motorcycle accidents. The Hurt report is getting a little old, the number of motorcycles has increased and with some rising accident and fatality numbers, it would be a good thing to know what the real situation is instead of listening to everyone pushing their own ideas based in nothing but hot air.
