Motorcycle technology

By Paul Crowe

Where is motorcycle technology headed? With all of the recent stories of automotive hybrids, fuel cells and electric power not to mention the huge number of new designs, cars are moving into the future, fast. Plain old internal combustion engines are putting out more power than in the muscle car days of the late sixties. What about bikes? Where is innovation coming from and what do we, as motorcycle riders, want? I think the out of the box thinking of a Michael Czysz is great because he looks at the whole bike not just one part. Does racing technology point the way to future improvements in street bikes or will we see it someplace else? Is there some completely different direction we can’t see yet that will impact motorcycle design in years to come? I honestly don’t know. Ideas?
