More ENV observations

By Paul Crowe

When I looked at the ENV hydrogen motorcycle the other day, it seemed to be a great showcase for the hydrogen fuel cell technology it uses, and it is that, but it really isn’t a bad design in any event. It has an aluminum frame and swingarm (with an enclosed monoshock), belt drive, good ground clearance and suspension travel, in other words, this could really work. Seeing concepts or prototypes that don’t actually run get hopes up but lead to a letdown when you find out there’s no way to make them work. This is a concept that works.

A point I didn’t mention in my earlier post is the CORE fuel cell which can be quickly removed from the ENV and used to supply power to other devices. You can download a brochure for the ENV which goes into detail and shows the removal process.

We won’t be seeing one of these in any showrooms soon but it does indicate the technology is not as far away as some people think.
