Last year all of the talk was about Valentino Rossi going from MotoGP to Formula 1, which of course, never happened. This year, Michael Schumacher, retired 7 time Formula 1 World Champion, decided to get on a motorcycle and see what going fast on 2 wheels was like and he seems to like it and he’s pretty good, too.
First he got into an amateur race in Hungary with a couple of pro racing friends. He qualified on the pole but decided to start at the back with his buddies. When the race was over, his friends took 1st and 2nd and Michael was 3rd.
OK, this past weekend he gets into a KTM series race at Misano, on a 990cc Super Duke and finished 4th against racers who take the sport seriously.
He seems a lot like that guy you knew in high school who was the quarterback on the football team, captain of the golf team and played great baseball, too. Schumacher just feels comfortable on a track, no matter how many wheels are involved. He says he’s not planning to get involved professionally with motorcycle racing, it’s just a fun hobby, but it makes you wonder what he might do if he got serious. Pretty cool.
Several tips on this one, thanks to everyone.

Can you imagine pulling up to your local track, unloading your pickup, setting up your tent etc.
then you look over to the guy parked next to you and it’s Michael Schumacher!?!?!
I’m not sure how I would deal, especially if he has a handful of his bikes with him (I read somewhere at the track in Hungary he brought along his 1098R)
Fast is Fast though! lets hope he keeps it up, fun to see him win a race on 2 wheels (even if it’s at the local level)

It’s easy for him to fearlessly go fast, the Schumacher1 (Michael) was not programmed for puny human emotions when first assembled at the Bayerische Roboten Werke.
The Schumacher2 (Ralf), however…

If it comes out now that he’s also witty, charming and understands quantum mechanics I shall hurl, I promise.
No country for old men indeed.

Schu took Stoner’s GP bike for a few laps in post-season testing last year and laid down times within a second or two of Pedrosa’s best race lap. He knows machinery and lines, he’s got nerve, that’s just about all a racer needs, hey?
