Mat Mladin – What’s Next?

By Paul Crowe

Mat MladinMat Mladin now has 6 AMA Championships in the bag and the question needs to be asked, what’s next? He has already signed on for three more years so I guess he’s going for 9 and that’s surely up to him and Suzuki and beyond that, he’s getting a little older and changing race series at this point may be something he simply doesn’t want to do. I can appreciate that. I wonder, though, how he would fare on the WSB series or even MotoGP. He obviously has the skills to take a good bike to the top time and again, it would be interesting to see how he would do in one of those other venues. Neil Hodgson has even noted Mladin’s skills and believes he would be competitive on the world stage but I guess we won’t know.

Since he is already sponsoring Marty Craggill, team ownership is probably the direction he’s moving and he should do well in that capacity. He certainly know’s what it takes to win. Well, congratulations to Mat Mladin for championship number 6.
