Norm Wilding of Mid Missouri Motorcycles had an idea some years back, why not take a Kawasaki ZRX and slide in the engine from a Suzuki Hayabusa? Why not, indeed? His gorgeous creation was called Kawabusa. The first one he built was eventually sold to Jesse James. Of course, seeing it was such a great idea, he did it again and built Kawabusa II. I caught up with Norm at Vintage Motorcycle Days in Ohio in 2007 and had a chance to see it up close. The bike looks factory all the way, no cobbled together home built look about it, just one of those foolers that guys walk right by at first, then stop, turn around and look again. Really top shelf work!
Lots of good stuff here, a GSXR1000 seat and tail section, Hayabusa swing arm, wheels and brakes and the inverted forks, too. Custom fabricated 2 into 2 stainless exhaust system, with a pair of Yoshimura carbon mufflers. The list just goes on and on.
Kawabusa II was sold to a private collector and not long ago Norm had the opportunity to buy it back. When he did, he decided he ought to go over it and make it like new again, or even better. Here’s the cool part, he’s got it up for sale and you can put this sweetheart in your garage. Huge Busa power with nice comfortable upright ergonomics. That’s a nice combination.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, you might want to check it out soon. Bikes this nice are going fast these days.
