EJ Potter, the Michigan Madman,” built a continuously evolving “widow maker” Chevy powered drag bike over the years, a crazy machine with the V8 mounted sideways and direct drive to the rear wheel. When the engine was fired and up to speed, he kicked out the stand and off he went in a cloud of tire smoke, aiming the bike the best he could. It was always one helluva show!
Well, one of last of these bikes is now for sale. Powered by a 400 cubic inch Chevy with Hilborn injection and set up to run on alcohol, you can own a piece of drag racing history that is absolutely guaranteed to be the wildest machine you will ever see. Show up at your local drag strip and see what happens!
The story of his life is colorful and extremely interesting, he eventually built a trike with a Fairchild J-44 jet engine and then developed a fascination with the Allison V12 engines, used in WWII fighter aircraft and which he used in everything from a Dodge Dart to the tractors he entered in pulling competitions. I really like that guy!
Check out the bike and read the story I wrote earlier. You’ll get a kick out of it.

Back in the ’60’s I saw E.J. make a few passes at Milan Dragway. It’s something I’ll never forget. One of those “Now I’ve seen it all” moments.
