Curt Winter of BTR Moto has created this custom jump bike for Big Ed Beckley of Checkered Flag Productions. Some of you may recall Big Ed’s jumps decades ago. He has been busy promoting numerous types of events including Pulling, Arena Cross, and Monster Truck nationals. Ed is also back to jumping and he is going to jump this custom bike this Father’s Day, June 16th at the Monster Truck Summer Nationals in Greeley, CO outside of Denver. A successful jump and a little dirt on this hand-built custom would be the finishing touches for something like the AMD bike show.
Curt built the frame and swingarm. He also re-machined the Barnett clutch pack and installed it on the main shaft with a custom case. The clutch is just used to disconnect power from the driveline since there is no transmission.
The bike uses a Showa fork and a WP rear shock. It rolls on Excel rims with billet hubs machined by TCR. Fluid tanks are also hand built by Curt.
The body work is from a Honda CRF450 but the strength comes from a 127†EVO-based Ultima motor that has approximately 140 bhp and a tractor-pulling 145 ft. lbs. of torque.
If you are in the Denver area this Father’s Day, go out and watch the big man fly his big jump bike.

Yeeee-Haw! Shades of Evel Knevel! The stars-and-stripes motif is a nice homage to the original motorcycle jumper. Will Big Ed wear a cape when he jumps? That motor would make a wicked street tracker!

Well it’s not often that lifelong motorcycle enthusiasts/monster truck fans get an article that appeals to both Jeckyl and Hyde sides of our mechanical psyche. SWEET
If Big Ed is sill as big as he used to be, he’ll need this monster of a bike. If I remember correctly he did used to wear a cape too…

It’s good to see that Curt is still busy. Definitely first-class work, truly out of the box.

Is there anyone in Milwaukee that can see the potential in a bike like this? Yes, it needs a transmission and a muffler, etc., but I bet there are some younger guys that would love to wring this thing out.

Wow! I’d think ol’ Evel Knevel would jump this bike.
I used to see him occasionally when he lived in NE Ohio, and even had a conversation once with him about broken bones.
Carolynne says
Oh that is cool! I would have loved to have actually met Evil Knevel.
B50 Jim says
Carolynne —
I’m sure Evel would loved to have met you as well… broken bones and all, he was said to have had quite a way with the ladies.
Brad says
Evel would love that bike…
on a side note, my dad used to work for him. Back when Evel was just starting out with a stunt show, my dad worked on his bikes, set up and tore down the show and did a few other things…wish the pics he has were better.

This bike will weigh like a tractor.)))
Dave says
Have you heard of Ed Beckley’s jumps?
B50 Jim says
I’m sure someone, somewhere, has jumped a tractor, too!
Jody says
A tractor of sorts…

Flying in the face of all logic and good judgement….. what’s not to like?

A Harley powered motorcycle i would love to own!
VMX1000 says
Me too, wow, that’s one mean machine!

Video coming soon. It will give you a sense of the sound and the torque.
Curt says the weight is around 400 lbs. Not motocross weight obviously, but consider the torque and hp numbers…then consider the showmanship value of Ed Beckley’s jumps. It all works
