EBR Motorcycles just announced their new 2016 pricing as production begins in East Troy, Wisconsin. 2016 MSRP for the 1190SX is $12,995 and for the 1190RX it’s $13,995. The first bike off the line was painted in a patriotic American flag color scheme to emphasize the fact that they’re hand built in the USA.
It looks like the EBR website hasn’t been updated yet, but information about new motorcycles and the excess parts inventory is available through Liquid Asset Partners as detailed at the end of the press release below.
Press release follows:
EAST TROY, WI – Riders are ready to throw a leg over America’s sport bike with the announcement that EBR Motorcycles resumed production March 1. The public, Buell® enthusiasts, and EBR fans are rolling in to East Troy, Wisconsin to attend the EBR Launch Party on Friday, March 18. During their Press Day on March 17, the new company, EBR Motorcycles, LLC, announced the 2016 MSRP for the 1190SX at $12,995 and 1190RX at $13,995. The first motorcycle to roll off the production line was a limited edition 1190RX with a patriotic American flag paint job to highlight the fact that EBR Motorcycles are designed and hand built in East Troy, Wisconsin, making them America’s only sportbike, capable of going head-to head with the European and Asian Superbikes.
“The launch of EBR Motorcycles in 2016 is very exciting for American motorcyclists and the Buell Nation around the globe,†said Bill Melvin. “The team at EBR is top-notch and they have worked enthusiastically towards this day. It’s a great day for America. America can succeed in manufacturing a high performance sportbike that competes with the fastest motorcycles in the world. The excitement over EBR from riders is stunning, and dealers are quickly expressing their interest in being an EBR dealer; EBR is ready to twist the throttle and enjoy the ride!â€
A multitude of media attended the EBR Press Day on March 17, and Steve Smith, CEO said, “The dealers and riders are already fired up about signing up for a 2016 EBR. With our aggressive and competitive MSRP, the 1190SX and 1190RX will be priced as a hot item this spring.â€
EBR Motorcycles is in the process of making plans to auction and donate the proceeds of the first American patriotic bike off the production line to a national charity that assists American military personnel and veterans.
Founder and CTO, Erik Buell said, “We are glad to see the talk all over the Internet and Facebook about the launch and those coming to the Launch Party event. It is always fun to meet riders in person, that’s what brings joy to the job!†For 2016, EBR Motorcycles is focused on their restructuring, as well as updates for their 2017 models and development of 2018 motorcycles and future innovations. EBR Motorcycles will continue to work closely with its race sponsors and privateer race teams that achieve success while racing EBRs worldwide.
The EBR Motorcycles team would also like to emphasize that EBR is available for contract engineering of motorcycle or other high-tech products, including electrics. With the many designs already done for Asia, Erik Buell and the team have shown they can design products for other manufacturing companies that are award winning world-class motorcycles. “Working with Erik and EBR to develop an innovative super bike like the 1190 is just an amazing experience,†said Dan Hurda, Director of Engineering. “And on top of that, we are working on so many other exciting designs for the future. It’s the kind of job every kid who goes to engineering school dreams of.â€

That old joke about the only things that’ll survive a nuclear holocaust being scorpions, cockroaches and Keith Richards could almost do with having Erik Buell added to the list. The man is an immortal.

Ok, so here goes…. How do these bikes differ from the last ones? Reason I ask is because I vaguely remember the last line being upwards of $20k. It’s nice to see that these new bikes are affordable and competitive in pricing, but it makes you wonder how anyone who bought one of the prior batch feels now.
Jason says
You can buy a new 2014 EBR 1190SX or 1190RX for $9999. Left over stock at old EBR dealers. Makes you wonder why anyone would pay $4000 more for the same bike.
Joe says
Someone has suggested that this is more or less liquidation pricing; that the production cost is very close to these prices so EBR isn’t making much on these bikes. They were on the assembly line when the plug was pulled.
Probably looking toward future models to begin making a real profit.
Jason says
I would suggest that this is the first step in liquidating EBR. Fire up the assembly line and turn a bunch of parts into bikes that can be sold. Even at a heavily discounted price a motorcycle is worth more than a pile of parts. Then Liquidation Assets can liquidate the assembly equipment.

Hope they come out with a new version of XBXT sport tourer.
At least in the years to come.

I do not know if I should admire Mr Buell for never giving up, or dislike him for the fact that he’s the one wealthy enough not to suffer from his own, repeated, failures… I wonder what happens every time to his employees.
Steady now says
Eric’s ‘failures’ have nothing to do with himself or his bikes. If Britten tried mass production and was unable to obtain funding would you call him a failure? EBR is by all accounts a family and his employees keep coming back.

“EBR is by all accounts a family and his employees keep coming back.”
That’s good to know.
Good luck to them, then!
If they manage to keep a competitive price they might succeed; Buell has always striven to offer something new and original, so I’m happy if he can make it this time.
(Getting funding is part of building a successful business; starting one knowing that you don’t have enough funding, no matter how much passion you have, is not proper strategy.)
Steady know says
One would have thought that Harley had enough funding years ago, but they chose to handcuff Eric’s genius for years and then left him high and dry. Hero also had plenty of $$, They did the same with funding. Eric’s fault? Maybe. Things just aren’t always so cut and dry.

Eric Buells failures are in fact all down to him . Why is simple . As motorcycle designer / engineer he has no pears . As a businessman or at the very least a man who comprehends his own weaknesses he is an absolute and abject failure . Between poorly conceived ‘ partnerships ‘ being completely out of touch with the market place , an utter unwillingness to bring some one into the fold that does know how to rung a business , a complete lack of concern for the quality and reliability of his products , a lack of respect for his investors , venders etc [ he owes a lot of people a ton of money ] and finally an inability to comprehend the importance of customer service ultimately each and every failure so far falls firmly on the shoulders of Mr Beull . He is in a sentence a man that has no business what so ever running a business … of any kind . Which is to say when it comes to Mr Buell’s umpteenth attempt at reviving his brand . It is a failure and more likely a massive failure just waiting to happen . And …. it will !
Jason says
Liquid Assets bought Buel for pennies on the dollar including partially assembled bikes and parts waiting to be assembled. It only makes sense to fire up the assembly line and turn those parts into bikes that can be sold at a firesale price. However, it should be noted that you can buy an identical brand new bike from old EBR dealers for about $2000 less.
