Ducati has issued a recall for the 2007 and 2008 1098, 1098S and 1098 Tricolore. Sprocket failures could make for an interesting ride. Read the details below.
Manufacturer: Ducati
Model Year: 2007, 2008
Models affected: 1098, 1098S, 1098 Tricolore
NHTSA Campaign Number: 08V253000
Potential Units Affected: 3614
Problem: Ducati is recalling 3,614 model year 2007-2008 1098, 1098s, and 1098 tricolore motorcycles. The rear drive sprocket can fail. If the sprocket were to fail while the motorcycle is being driven, it is possible that the motorcycle will experience a sudden loss of power and/or the chain may become entangled with the chassis. This can result in a crash without prior warning.
Corrective Action: Dealers will replace the rear drive sprocket. The recall is expected to begin during june 2008. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-408-253-0499.
Verbal says
Didn’t they previously have some ECU problems with these machines too?

I’ve ALWAYS wanted a duc but it was out of my league still do but all the forseen problems lately rather detour the everyday rider. The only reason a bike should hit the ground is because some yahoo cut you off and you enjoy life or driver error(my brothers friend washed my bike and sprayed tire wet over the entire tire I took off with the bike wet need I say more.)
