This is a bit weird. Just saw this link over at Roadracing World pointing to a forum where law enforcement officers meet. Hmm… read it and form your own conclusions. The gist of it is that some cop was chasing a sportbike rider who crashed and was very seriously injured and the cop just couldn’t stop laughing. Granted, the particular biker here was no stellar citizen but the cop seems to indicate that seeing someone injured is a real hoot. Just read it yourself, I’ll keep my comments out of it.
Looks like they just closed the post with a big disclaimer…

Just checked out the post and read all of it including the replies. This whole deal is two fold. First the guy on the bike is not the greatest specimen of a law abiding citizen. He shouldn’t have ran and he shouldn’t have been doing stunts on a public road. At the same time the cop shouldn’t have made the comments he made. I’m not going to critize him for it because I know what it’s like when “dealing with things” and makeing jokes is the way most people deal with it. Ask anyone who has been to combat with the armed forces and they’ll tell you that we make all kinds of sick and heartless jokes about our enemy. For most of us though even after we have killed the enemy before he killed us, or unfortunately, after he has killed a comrade, we are happy that he is gone and no longer a threat. Now once some time has gone you don’t feel so happy anymore. Sure, you are glad you did your job but one doesn’t take the kind of enjoyment that this particular cop took in seeing the biker go down. Now most importantly, while we combat vets have made heartless and “sick” comments we don’t make them public. We keep them to ourselves and usually after leaving the combat zone we leave most of the jokes behind or at least keep them among those that understand. So the cop should be getting heat for what he made public, and to do so and not expect heat is ignorant and naive. By reading the following posts on that thread I conclude that most of those guys are both ignorant and naive, among other things.
