After Hurricane Katrina destroyed their New Orleans factory, Confederate Motorcycles was on the lookout for a new location to set up shop. Birmingham, Alabama is where Confederate will rebuild again. Birmingham is also the location of Barber Motorsports Park and Museum, a factor in their decision to relocate.
The company further solidified its commitment to the Magic City by incorporating a new holding company called Birmingham Speed of America Inc. to serve as Confederate’s parent company.
The maker of Confederate Motorcycles announced today it is moving its headquarters to Southside, into an 8,500-square-foot building at 2222 Fifth Ave. South.
Confederate plans to produce 150 motorcycles in 2006 so they’re not wasting any time getting up to speed, though plans for 2007 are twice that.
