Confederate Motorcycles is alive, kicking and coming back from Katrina and the first vehicle released following the hurricane will be a one off, special edition, the “Category-Five HellKat.” This beast will be based on the 2006 Hellcat with a lot of carbon fiber pieces, a 131 cubic inch turbocharged engine along with a number of very special visual design features to show the special nature of this bike. The HellKat will be auctioned off on ebay and the proceeds will be donated to hurricane relief. We’ll have full details and a photo soon. This bike will be the one and only Category Five HellKat produced. No others will be built under any circumstances. If you have the resources to bid on a bike like this, be sure to do so, it’s for a great cause and you’ll have a spectacular and unique bike if you win.
Confederate Motorcycles is currently searching for long term temporary quarters to resume regular production. The New Orleans location, used for final assembly, suffered sufficient damage to halt operations there and they are unable to return to the city to pick up the pieces however, the company is spread over a number of different buildings which helped lessen the impact of the storm. As company spokesman, Dave Hargeaves told me, “It’s a speed bump.” I like that attitude and I expect to see the Hellcat and Wraith production rolling again before too long. Dave estimated production was set back about 30 days. If you were planning on adding one of these extraordinary bikes to your collection, get back in line. Dave also wanted everyone to know the company is answering the phone again at their regular number.
It’s great to know Confederate Motorcycles is making progress and will resume operations. Congratulations, guys, we’re looking forward to seeing you back.

while i’m acting superior and posting nasty posts,(see “when you see high gas prices – smile) i might as well add this one to the tally
what? what a stupid idea! anyone could see that a wraith would make a better platform for this release, and that two turbos would be cooler. oh well, no-one’s perfect. can i bid my left arm and leg?

The Wraith isn’t actually fully production ready yet, some final design work is still taking place which obviously was interupted by Katrina. In fact, the Wraith that everyone sees in magazines and photos was luckily not in the New Orleans facility when the hurricane arrived. The Hellcat is a current production bike, hence the special HellKat which I think is a tremendous idea and will be a superb machine not to mention a huge morale boost for eveyone and a nice way to raise money for hurricane relief.
And yes, you are being a bit nasty. Cool it.

’twas a sarcastic post, the wraith has an odd elegance that would be ruined (maybe) by this treatment. the hellcat is big and ugly, and better for it. I’ve admitted to my nastiness because it’s inappropriate and counterproductive (maybe stronger meds? finding a healthy outlet for my aggression?) the bike rocks, and as I indicated, an arm and leg would not be too high a price.

It looks like there is already a lot of carbon fiber on the ordinary Hellcat. What else could they possibly carbonize?
Do you think they are going to add a bikini cowl or something?
