Laurence Smith runs SuspensionSmith, a suspension business in Australia. Working on motorcycle forks, shocks and swingarms all day, it shouldn't be surprising he has a few of his own ideas about what comes between the wheels and frame and when he started thinking about why girder front suspensions weren't often found on sport bikes, he decided to look into it. Of course, Laurie … [Read more...]
Honda CB350 Brat Style Custom
Thought I would draw your attention to an extremely clean and well done Honda CB 350 currently for sale. It's in the "brat" style made popular in Japan, but this really excels. For everyone who likes the smaller displacement vintage Hondas, this is such a sweet example I had to point it out. The tires are Coker Classics, which means gorgeous reproductions in the old … [Read more...]
XRTT 1750 by American Motorcycle Parts for Sale
Quite a few builders have reworked the Harley Davidson Sportster into some form of XR750 look alike, this impressive piece, called the XRTT 1750, was built by American Motorcycle Parts. Starting life as a Sportster, the style is reminiscent of Cal Rayborn's XR750, but it has an advantage over those originals with an extra 1000cc in the S&S V-Twin, coming in at 1750cc, 100 cubic … [Read more...]
JJ2S X4 500cc 2 Stroke Update
The Kneeslider just passed its 7 year anniversary and one of the most enjoyable benefits is getting to see the progress some of the projects we covered years ago have made since we first brought them to your attention. I just received an email from J. Jacek Synakiewicz, he's the JJS in JJS Design, the Polish company behind the JJ2S X4 500 we wrote about way back in 2008. He … [Read more...]
BMW S1000RR by Steve Culp
Just guessing here, but I bet Steve Culp didn't color within the lines when he was in school. He probably drew in a few lines of his own, too, because this BMW S1000RR is one of those custom builds sure to rile up a few BMW purists. After all, the S1000RR is the sort of high performance flagship that makes the Beemer crowd puff their chest out and smile at the Teutonic wonder … [Read more...]
UM250R 100hp 2 Stroke Conversion
Just spotted this bike for sale and it's pretty sweet. It started as a UM250R, that's a United Motors, which I thought was a rebadged Hyosung, but the owner says it's built by Suzuki for United. At any rate, he pulled the stock 250 4 stroke V-Twin and shoehorned in an RZ350 Banshee 2 stroke, billet stroker crank yields 440cc. Forged pistons, billet clutch, programmable ignition … [Read more...]
