There’s a builder over at the Old Mini Bikes forum, goes by the name Jeep2003, and he just decided one day to build something cool, a mini custom style push mower. Sure, why not? This isn’t some reconfigured standard mower, this is a scratch build. The engine is from an old snowblower and the deck is the lid from an old smoker grille. He went the full 50s style custom route, streamlined fenders, taillights, very period paint color and the end result is absolutely gorgeous. He did a custom fat tire bike, earlier and thought the paint color was just right for the mower so that’s what he used.
He has the tools, he needed a project, he came up with this. It’s the idea and execution that makes the difference between this and all of those ideas we all have that never get off the ground. Very, very cool! I like it!

But does that mower actually cut grass? Inquiring minds, you know.
I like the “hood” ornament.

The difference between the builders you feature and most of the rest of us is “execution”. Doing it. I admire those who have the will and means to Git ‘er done.

It’s an excellent man-cave decoration, but wet grass would quickly reveal the reason normal mowers don’t have enclosed fenders.
This strikes me as a harmless bit of hobby tinkering. It would have been nice to get a usable mower out of the time and effort that went into it, but I’m sure he can enjoy or sell this almost as easily. At least if someone tries to use this mower there’s little risk of getting hurt, unlike some similarly impractical custom choppers.

There is a ton of talent on the OMB site. Some of the bikes those guys build are just amazing. A couple two wheel drive Rokon inspired one offs are among the out of this world bikes from the OMB forum.
Looks like the majority of the guys and gals over there would be just as at home in the Yamaha or Honda R&D center as they are in their own garages.
