A little while ago I wrote about the show, Build or Bust and I wasn’t very impressed. Last night I was channel surfing and came across it again. The guest builder was all business and the Exile Choppers crew wasn’t saying too much as he worked. Steady, methodical and in the end, he wins the bike. He was almost done and they told him if he could start it and do a burnout before time was up, the chopper was his. He did.
I don’t know if the show changed or if this was out of the ordinary but that was much better. Hope they do more like that.

I enjoyed last night’s show quite a bit as well. And yes, it was a pretty radical departure from previous episodes as the builder is the seat guy they use for all the bikes. Now if they could get just get producer/cameraman Scott to shut the f up during filming I’d be thrilled.

This was one of the better episodes of a rather poor show. I agree that the producer should shut up. It is getting to the point where the show is primarily about the show and not about the bike builder or the bikes. In one recent show (where they chucked the contestant out half way through) they spent half the show arguing about what the contract for the show said! Ridiculous.
These people are so full of themselve that they think we tune in to see how cool the production company is.
Just show us the bikes!

I like the concept of the show.
Yes, the cameraman interrupts too much, and the so-called advisers distract the builder too much too.
It might turn out to be a good show if they take care of those things.
Oh, and they should nevr get anyone like that pussy Jessie Rook on the show.

I agree 100% with the comments so far. They need to stop harassing the poor folks TRYING to build these bikes and help them! The camera/production crew needs to act like they do not exist and stop interfering. And that guy Jessie was a total ass and I hope destroyed what reputation he had.

Scott the producer seems as you all forementioned to be a total jerk. Funny enough that the editiing also seems to put russel in a bad light as well. I got a chance to hang out with Russell and Kendell Johnson at bike week in myrtle and must say that he is totally different then how they edit him for tlc and discovery channel. Really just laid back soft spoken cool guy. Seeing tonights episode 9/7 I hope the whole jesse rook incident doesn’t meen no more exile choppers on build or bust. judgeing from the new website it looks that way. ride safe all

I have watched the whole build or bust program from the very start. I thought the whole idea of someone that thinks they can build a quality bike in 30 days was a great idea. After all custom motorcycles are easy to build expecially when you have no prior expirience :). The whole point to the show is to watch people struggle from start to finish. If people where just walking into the shop and busting out bikes left and right, it wouldn’t be much of a show. To get to my point, that whole jesse rook expirience really ticked me off. So they get this frame from this self involved little weasle, who is more worried about looking cool on camera, than seeing if this guy can build a bike on his frame. Offcourse instantly before the guy even picked up a tool, I could tell jesse didn’t think he was qualified to build on his frame. Hey Jesse you know what, he probably isn’t. However, that is what the show brings to their viewers. If I would have been that poor soul that jesse was sneering at every time he tried to do somthing, I would have got right in his face and told that rat lookin punk either to help me out or stay out of my way. Then they kicked the poor guy off the show after he had been belittled by basically everyone. Who in this world could work like that anyway. Keep in mind somone with limited or no bike building expirience. It all worked out, because we got to see what jesse rook is all about. He totally ended up looking like a little cry baby, that when he didn’t get his way he quit. Other than that 2 show series I like the show, and “Rock on exile”, because without using that crew the show would be nothing. If jesse comes back on that would be a mistake. I don’t want to see another american chopper type show. I have enough drama in my life, I don’t want to watch fellow employees argue all day long.

I caught the show last night for the first time and that punker chick Alex was on it. I totally agree that the crew and camera man are not helping the show move along, what with harassing the wrenches and Scott never shutting his trap. I have ti say watchng it was so uncomfortable. You watch it to see people make a chance of a lifetime come to fruition. All I saw was tension and heartbreak. Hope they change the format, before someone else comes along and gets it right, and runs them right off the tele. Russel, shame on you for letting that wanker Scott bring his brand of Jerry Springer into a professional cycle shop! Get it together, Build or Bust.

I agree with every one that scot needs to shut up. I caught the show with Alex what about the “bet” a grand says she dont make it and 150 if you get her nickers off what kind of crap is that, do that crap off camera no one needs to see someone make a fool of them self. not to mention disrespecting excel cycles on national televison. Russel your bikes are awsome they are good looking sleds. keep up the job.

It’s a great show only when Russell Mitchell is the on scene. The only show that sucked was when Casey Kasem’s daughter was a wrench. I couldn’t believe all the help she got.
Carol Adams says
I’m not watching if Russell’s not on.
