Just got a note from Buell Motorcycles about their win in a recent hill climb event. Two riders, Logan and Luke Cipala, were both riding Buell 1190HCRs. Logan Cipala took first place in the AMA Pro Hillclimb in the twin class at Freemansburg, PA.
My first thought was, 1190HCR? Yep, it seems Buell has decided to get into hill climbing with a purpose built model and it looks like a beast. Wet weight with no fuel is 355 pounds and the engine is the same V-twin you’ll find in the other models.
An extended swingarm as required for hill climbing plus long legs up front and minimal seating and bodywork complete the package.
The funny thing is, when I was looking at this, I couldn’t help thinking that I had seen this before and sure enough, I had, or something that could have been the inspiration. Hmm …
Whatever the case, it’s nice to see Buell expanding its offerings into something oriented for the off road crowd. Not what I would have expected.
