The BMW Clever 3 wheeler that we wrote about is one of Time magazine’s best of 2006 award winners. It’s very similar to the Carver which we covered in the same article.
The Clever’s performance is acceptable for this type of vehicle and mileage numbers cited are pretty impressive but I think some independent confirmation of those numbers would be a good thing. The tilting 3 wheeler concept is interesting since it gets around many of the stability problems normally encountered with a tricycle configuration. Now to see if it goes beyond the concept stage.
The Carver, on the other hand, is ready to go and dealers are being set up so if I were passing out awards, I might lean towards the one actually being sold.

Thanks for the tip, Keith!

The Clever is nice and all but it fails in one very important area. There’s no way that sucker is ever going to split lanes. And a vehicle that can’t split lanes is all but useless to me. Also, it looks like you could slap some wings on it and just fly to work which isn’t a bad thing.

I would purchase one today if it were available.
