Marcus sent me a link to his site where he has a few interesting designs posted and this one, the Black Hawk certainly is different. I wish I could see the details a bit more clearly but the rear suspension caught my eye, it’s actually a multi leaf spring. The rendering needs a few more additions to be a complete bike but, an interesting start.

I am afraid you have your description incorrect as this a front-wheel drive bike. The suspension you reference is at the front. Batman’s street version for the masses.

BAD!

Copperhaed, You may wish to go to his site and look at the rear suspension, the one away from you in the image above.
Phoebe says
Umm…is that a multi-leaf rear suspension with no damping? o.o
Copperhead says
(Helps when I spell my handle correctly…) Kneeslider, please take a look at the complete bike. Where is the seat located? Look at the levers. Also, look at how the rear frame grips the axle. This is a front-wheel drive bike. Bet a beer on it?
taxman says
it looks interesting. i’d have to take it for a ride before i could really give it an honest assessment. it does look like you would have to have a wide stance to stradle it though. the swing arm is wider than the tire all the way past the seat.
but i do like the look.
kneeslider says
Copperhead, the seat is in the rear like the leaf springs. He has a closeup on his website.

What is up with motorcycle designers lately? Is there a secret competition going on to see who can design the ugliest, most un-rideable concept bike? In years past, these “design exercises” were posted on cubicle walls and, thankfully, forgotten. Now we are inundated with these LSD inspired visions of unrealistic machines. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for stretching the boundaries and showing fresh and novel approaches to motorcycle design but I think the design guys need a reality check. Innovation doesn’t equal outlandishness. They need to keep at least one foot grounded in the real world.
kneeslider says
Ed, you don’t like Batman? 😉
we don't need no stinking function says
@Ed
i couldn’t agree more. i blame the fashion and style obsessed. they simply adore these impractical monstrosities created by some self-important poseur. it’s getting really, really old.
we don't need no stinking function says
no offense intended to anyone here, BTW.

That rear suspension looks like a lot of problems waiting to happen. Has anyone ever successfully incorporated a design like this into a working prototype? Looks like it would be a lot of added stress to the frame.
WiseDog says
I believe when this bike released someday, it will come with a thick manual on “How to Ride “This” Properly” lol.
The Ogre says
Um, yeah.
Interesting ideas, certainly. We’re it to be built, he’d have to add a drivetrain of some sort, and footpegs. And it would handle atrociously.
Still, kinda pretty, and I like the bars/levers ideas.
Eskild says
Nice design. Could it not be that the prosess of designing wild ideas without having to worry about functionality is as important as the outcome? Every once in a while it works out, or at least maybe parts of it…
Nice link though. The bike on the top made me wonder if anyone knows what happened to Franco Sbarros hub less wheel? does it work?
FREEMAN says
Ugly but interesting.

I would have to say that I would rather have someone try an out-of-the-box idea like this rather than make yet another extended fork v-twin ‘choppa’ clone or a carbon fiber ‘me too’ semi-streamliner sport bike. For all the people commenting on how/why the suspension won’t work, think about this: It’s a concept design, not an engineering model. It doesn’t even have lighting. There are plenty of mechanical challenges to solve if you sincerely wanted to build this thing. But, ultimately, it’s everyone’s individual right to love it or hate it. I personally am just eager for some more innovation and less duplication.
JR says
I think it looks AWESOME, even if it doesn’t work out.
Keep up the sweet designs.
rai says
i just like the front end
sweet….
gotta try this on my bike…
M.A.D. says
It’s not a front wheel drive bike. Look closely, it’s a V-twin, the primary drive is facing you. The chain is on the other side delivering power to the REAR wheel, you just can’t see it.
Jeff says
Alien .
Motoxyogi says
Don’t think any type of drive has been chosen yet, cause unless he has a tiny hydraulic motor hidden in the front there is no final drive that can be seen, though if you wanted front wheel drive a swingarm front end is the way to go about it.
Very nice concept. I especially like the reverse mounted clutch and brake, like the KS750.
I think he went a bit overboard on the stopping power.
Just curious, but everytime i look at the springleaf suspension i keep thinking that they’re mounted in a pair of telescopic forks. Am i being stupid?
Cecil Trotter says
Ugly. Ridiculous.
NakedMadman says
Ugly, unridable, irrevilant garbage. If this guy was trying to get something into the Demolition Man sequel, I’m sure he succeeded.

Thing is these things are mostly just the equivalent of the sketches I did on my desk and book covers in 8th grade; they just look better cause nowadays you have fairly easy to use CAM and 3D rendering, but they’re just that level. I thought mine were pretty cool then… but I was like 13. So what you’ve got is grownups making 13-year olds level “designs”; not the most impressive thing in the world for me, sorry.
Chris says
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who thought those handlebars were awesome.
The rest of it? Yeah, it looks a little unrideable and a little impractical, but it’s a concept. It’s not intended for series production, so I don’t know what the big deal is.

I’d bet a beer that, at this current stage of design, it is a ‘no wheel drive’! Unless there is some kind of hydraulic drive hidden in the forks, there does not seem to be any drivetrain whatsoever. Further, without a swing arm or some other mechanism to keep the rear wheel’s right & left suspension in unison, I would bet another beer that this design is unsafe at just about any speed.
Nonetheless it is an interesting look, well suited for a video games or other virtual worlds where forum can be unconstrained by function. It certainly could inspire a roadworthy derivation.
Azzy says
Interesting, and this guy could have a place in some anime or movie production studio.
Erik says
I’d like a Hot Wheels version of this but wouldn’t want to have a real one in my garage. It looks ungainly, slow steering and uncomfortable. And I see no drivetrain at all, is it like a hobby horse where you put your feet down and kick along under your own power?
