In the U.S., we’ve been used to seeing Ben Spies run at the front for several years now in AMA Superbike. Well, the rest of the world just got introduced to his racing skill when he took the win in race 2 at Phillip Island during the opening weekend of FIM World Superbike. Ben moved up to the new series this year, racing an R1 for Yamaha World Superbike.
We don’t cover a lot of racing on The Kneeslider but this win in his first weekend of competition deserves notice. Congratulations Ben! Looks like this might be a series to watch this year.

Can you please not put racing results in headlines? It popped into my RSS reader with no warning and the race broadcasts later today on Speed.
Thanks.

Sorry – looks like you’ve already changed the headline and Google Reader cached the old one. I’ll go stand in the corner now.

If Speed would deliver this most excellent content on time you might not have that problem.
This race series should be great with the diversity in racers & manufacturers. BMW finished 8th in their inaugural race with a brand new bike. That is also worth watching.
Looking forward to the sound of the new R1.

It’s ironic that a motorcycle blog called “kneeslider”, “don’t cover a lot of racing”.

“Looking forward to the sound of the new R1” – for a taster of the sound of the new R1, just listen to the old VFR : )
