Let me begin by saying I can’t confirm this. This appeared in Australian Motorcycle News in early April so this may be a joke, … or it may be the coolest Goldwing ever. According to the article, the Joe Rocket Goldwing was massaged a bit by the racing guys.
They upped the displacement to 2798cc through both bore and stroke, added four valve heads, high compression pistons, high lift cams, MoTeC engine management system and the result is 240hp at the rear wheel! They also did a bit of frame bracing, suspension work and everything else you would expect to get that kind of power down to the asphalt.
According to Reece Griffith of Honda, they sourced bits and pieces from all over and once it’s been sorted, they’ll offer it for sale in Australia.
Biggest problem I see is how much time it takes to get in and change rear tires on a Goldwing. I think those will be a short term consumable item on this beast.
Again, this may be an April fool, so take it for what it’s worth.
Thanks for the tip, Aaron!

Now that sounds like the perfect engine to be transplanted in to a Mini

MMI, Mat Mladin Imports is the Joe Rocket distributor in Australia. They sponsor the Honda Super Bike team under the Joe Rocket name. The MMI staff work with Honda on many cool projects including this one. It’s fun to see what happens when guys who work for Mat and Joe Rocket hook up with Honda.

That is the most impressive display of riding skill on a Gold Wing I’ve ever seen. Thanks for that link. Now I understand the thought behind the 240hp version.

Hoyt. could you tell us where that road is? looks familer to me but not sure. looks like a great ride for anything including goldwings.
hoyt says
I believe the road is in eastern TN or western NC. Some say it is the tail of the dragon, but not sure if it is based on what I have read about the dragon.
Point your bike in the direction of the hills in eastern TN, western NC, or northwestern GA and you will not be disappointed.
In ’94, one of our daily rides was only 200 miles, 80% of that distance was incredible switchbacks like you see in the video….and it wasn’t the dragon.
The last 10 years probably have changed the volume of traffic, but I still hope to get back there and find times that are not “congested”.

I thought it looked familer haven t been able to make it there myself. put i have also been looking at the dragon and deals gap and by the end of the year i should be living there. but thank you for confirming my suspicions. and any roads like that are worth the travel to go see.

It’s EASY to change the rear tire on the 1800 Wing. Single sided swing arm… removable fender panel… only takes a minute.

The video was shot on the Dragon. The guy in the picture goes by the nickname Yellow Wolf and his bike is completely stock. The guy filming was also on a stock Wing. Yellow Wolf ran a video concession last summer filming guys on sportbikes from his “Lazyboy.” He also did over 1000 mile in less than 24 hours on the Dragon. Did I mention he’s good?
