2008 Honda CBR1000RR Hose Clamp Recall

By Paul Crowe

Honda CBR1000RR Hose Clamp RecallHonda has issued a recall for the 2008 CBR1000RR for a problem with a water pump hose clamp. Please read the details below.

Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)
Model Year: 2008
Models affected: CBR1000RR
NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V174000
Potential Units Affected: 12894
Problem: Honda is recalling 12,894 model year 2008 CBR1000RR motorcycles. A coolant hose clamp located on the water pump cover may break due to fatigue caused by vibration generated at continuous high engine speeds. If the clamp breaks, hot coolant can spray onto the riders left lower leg causing scalding to the rider.

Corrective Action: Dealers will install the new coolant hose clamp free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before June 6, 2009. Owners may contact Honda at 866-784-1870.
