The Campagna T-Rex has been getting a lot more press recently and now that they’ve dropped a 187 hp Kawasaki 1400cc engine in it, I can see why. The T-Rex is a three wheeler built in Quebec, Canada and they’ve gone through a few variations in the engine department, they even had a Harley Davidson V-twin in there some years back. The 1400 gives the T-Rex pretty crazy performance, top speeds close to 160 mph, 0-60 under 4 seconds, pulls close to 2 gs in the corners and if you check out the video you have to admit it looks like a helluva lot of fun.
Six speed gearbox with reverse, seating for two, you remove the steering wheel for entry and exit just like a race car, full tube frame / roll cage and you can get hard luggage like you’ll find on many motorcycles to carry your stuff. 16 inch wheels up front, 17 inch in the back.
Price is in the $50,000 range so it’s not cheap but, like I said, it does look like fun.

wild. A race series of these trikes could combine road racing with drifting.

Living and riding in Vermont, I see T-Rexes on the road several times a summer. Plenty of Quebecois head south to enjoy our twisty roads, since it’s pretty flat north of the border. T-Rexes look like they’d be an absolute blast to drive; shame they’re so expensive.

I would happily trade forty or fifty of those 187 horses for a lower price point.

The T-Rex is a great vehicle, but it can’t do 2gs on the skid pad. All other similarly set up vehicles post substantially lower numbers, at best about 1.3g. See the GX3 stats. If you look at the T-Rex website, it used to say 1.9gs, now it just says “over 1g.” They must have been using those Canadian gs in their calculations and someone called them on it.
Also, the test driver in the video said it had about the same grip as a regular car. When going from a SUV at .7gs to a sports car at 1g, I think a test driver would feel the difference when going from 1 to 2gs.

DON’T KNOW HOW MANY G’S I PULLED BUT I DID 3 SPINS AT ABOUT 70 MPH WOW IT’S PRITTY DURABLE.

I still don’t know why they’re so expensive, it look like a go kart it has Kawasaki 1400cc engine, all I see is $3,500 for engine and the body look like maybe $10,000 it just the name! not the ride. It look cool and fun, why paid for the name! too much $20,000 will do.
kidd says
yea but he also tested it in the rain how much grip do u get in the rain

i would love to have one, but if i am going to spend $50,000 on a vehicle, a t-rex is at the bottom of the list. with todays gas prices, they could sell these things at a crazy pace if the price was reasonable. too bad these things arent priced like a Cam Am Spyder. both bikes are very similar, and a spyder can be bought for around 15K. too bad the spyders are so darn ugly.
Alex says
I will build one. if some one have blue prints put it in.

The T-Rex is a toy just like a regular motorcyle you can get the same thrill from a Zx-10 and be able split lanes dip a bike left and right at high speeds around curves and go anywhere a car can go for a fraction of the price a T-rex can only go where there are leveled streets and the majority of people live in areas where there are pot holes and if you hit the right one at the right speed shocks struts what ever this thing uses are gone and I’m sure very costly to fix cause there arent many mechanics around that know how to fix them and $50,000 for a motorcyle engine and can only go in certain areas nah dont think so I’m sure my Zx-10 factory can put this thing to the test with ease

i am a custom bike builder and i am currently designing a trex based vehicle. BECAUSE THERE IS NO MONEY IN CHOPPERS ANYMORE… however OUR DESIGN is based on the busa engine and uses lotus front suspension. all the chassis engineering is done and the busa has much more low end torque and a more usable powerband. the look will be similar and just as exoitc. We may mass produce these depending on cost and parts availability…however they will sell for around 28K ……PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK ON THIS. TELL US WHAT U THINK ABOUT THIS SETUP
Yunkx says
That sounds awasome there way to expensive for what you get 28 sounds much better.

Hello I’m one of those guys that loves hayabusa’s to the end I really would like to see if you could come up with a design that looks like a Trex I really like the Trex, but don’t really want to pay the price for one of these big boys toys. I think all the people with much money buys these high price toys. I saw at, least 10 of them at 2009 bike week so, many of the rich or wealthy have plenty money to spend. If you can put it to work I really would like to have that busa engine powering that new project you have decided to try. Send me a email with pictures becasue me being a turbo guy I would surely put turbo on that project of yours if it look better than the Trex. I know you can do it, so make it happen man.
Make something at a reasonable price and I can bet they will sell for sure I know if it’s a two seater my wife and I would for sure by one of these things if they prove to be safe and run pretty quick. I’ve test driven one of these Trex and I can say I don’t know how may g’s it pulls but i can say that my wife and I will get one of these things even if we have to sell the RV that we don’t use much these days. Please give it a try and send me the pictires

Where do you buy the T Rex at? I can’t find anything on the web to actually buy one. I checked out the spyder and you kind of lose the appeal of the whole thing without the two seats. The spyder looks like a motorcycle on training wheels. Hey Sean have you built the trex yet? I would love to check out your design. Let me know… whats your website or contact info?
baslam says
I would like to have one of these too but I can’t afford it at this time.
Sean, I would really like to see your work on this. Hopefully a few of us here can be your clients. Keep us posted or better still email me the picks > bill(dot)Kalson(at)gmail(dot)com.

Sean i would love to see what ur model would look like. I was looking at the t rex and they are extremely appealing. A busa engine on a body like that would be awesome and for 28k would be a great deal. If your model was mass produced you would have alot of buyers and satisfied ones at that. I saw a custom built one on ebay and it was called a G2. it was the same thing as the t rex just a different name and it was going for about 33k. So just paying for the name t rex doesnt really sound worth it. Dont get me wrong its an awesome bike and has a good motor but 50 plus thousand is a lil pricey. I would definetly love to see ur model if you have any pics avaliable. And good luck with the project and your ideas i hope they go through.

great concept! Has anyone considered dropping a MTT turbine in the back?
Steve says
Hey Sean any luck on building that concept bike yet? Let me know I would be interested in seeing it and if it is appealing I would buy it. Email me at stevemahler@yahoo.com.

yo sean! you designin ANY thing like the rex w a busa motor.. 928-581-7780! call me ill take one for $29k when yall got em up and built!
Chris says
Hey sean, i agree with everyone else. you design one of these concepts your talking about im in also. i would be more than happy to throw 28 to 30 grand at one, i just cant seem to justify spending 50.
Anthony Johnson says
Hey Sean man I truly will be glad when you do design a T-rex with a Busa as the power train. I like the ZX14, but the motor design I wasn’t to inpressed with I’m waiting on someone to put their efforts in the bust, they have the three wheel trike, so why not the T-rex car I don’t need to dip in and out of tight spot but I truly would like to pull up beside the ZX14 T-rex and pull away because of the Busa being a stronger motor with much better performance. I’ve tried the T-rex ZX14,, and I can say that the ride was the one I thought it would be, but I know the Busa would do much better. Sean make it happen man soon i’m not getting any younger and I truly would like to have my last of my mid life crisis in style.
YOU HAVE THE SKILL OR EVERYONE HERE WOULDN”T BE ASKING YOU TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!
John Houston says
Ya I am busa man also, so when you come with final design an start to market it I wont to know. Looking to hear from you soon.
chiliztri says
I’d get one, but only after a price drop 🙂
But honestly, at this point its just an overpriced toy. Even if I had the money for it, I would question spending that much on a “bike” just because it looks cool. Drop the price to something reasonable and I’d consider it. For now, Campaga can keep their overpriced T-Rex.
