Ducati has issued a recall for a number of models from 2009 for problems of possible cracking in the lower pinch bolt area of the right fork. Please read the details below for specific models and years.

Potential Units Affected: 732
Problem: Ducati is recalling 732 model year 2009 1198 S, 1098 R, and F1098 S Streetfighter motorcycles. The right fork may have possible cracking and deformation at the right-hand side fork bottom wheel axle pinch bolt area. Cracking of the fork may lead to a loss of steering control, possibly resulting in a crash.
Corrective Action: Ducati will notify owners and repair the affected motorcycles free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during June 2009. Owners may contact Ducati toll-free at 1-800-231-6696.

Add one to the list of Bikes which the fork was replaced.. One has to wonder how Ducati/OHLINS found this issue in the first place….
