Mr Sticker, I doubt that someone considering an HD would buy a Honda Chopper, Its not the same customer, Im affraid the Fury will only attract Honda people who would never own a Harley anyway. Its all good as it gives Honda riders a choice of styles but will not pull sales from Harley only from other Metric Fans. Hondas 5YRs late with this model,

H-D will make it through. A strong brand, loyal supporters and a shift towards sportier models for younger riders should see them through.
But it will be interesting to see what happens when Honda release their new chop...

The funny thing about this whole downturn in the economy is, the companies that survive will be stronger than before. Cuts will be made, the marketing will be more on target, customers will be listened to more closely, new ideas previously not considered will get a hearing, ... it can be painful to make the necessary changes but it's better to do what's necessary than sit around hoping for a miracle, ... and fail.

I think Harley will come through this just fine and the dealers that concentrate on a customer focus will become stronger, too. Oh, and need I say it, ignore the doom and gloom.

Yes, The power of a strong brand name. Harley has managed to increase its market share in the U.S. in its chosen market segment, Heavyweight Cruisers. To not only fend off the increased competition but gain share in these times should serve to quiet the nay sayers. The marketing people are making marked progress selling to a younger crowd with the recent additions to the Sportster line, as well as the Dark lineup.
