TSS 500 in Aprilia RS250 chassis
The TSS RS500 2 stroke twin the boys down in Australia have been working on has been installed in an an Aprilia chassis as intended and fired up. It looks like it fits perfectly and they have a short video of the bike. It sounds good. Steve adds:
The motor fits in there like it was always designed to do - in fact I have a consipiracy theory that Aprilia initially had intended to buy a parallel-twin reverse-cylinder engine from Yamaha but the deal fell through, leaving them no choice but to go for the RGV engine. Because when you see how perfectly the big 500cc twin fits inside the frame spars, this is the inescapable conclusion you come to. The barrels and head come on and off without so much as touching the sides; there is far more room for removing barrels than in the case of the engine in the original RZ350.

that video is awesome….have some due with no helmet drive up, have a chick in a dress pick the rear end up off the ground and then have a dude in flip flops stop the back tire and then have some dude in a wheelchair rev up the engine. Maybe I’m a sicko, but I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. I thought something bad was going to happen. Cool bike though!
excuse my gramatical error…. I meant to say “dude” not “due”.
Ring-a-ding-ding, what’s not to like? =)
I can’t wait to read a full test of this machine ..
This bike is calling my name.
500cc 2 stroke twin, 286 pound bike, … think about that!
i’d buy it today. if…
reasonable price, and a nearby dealership that is trained to service it.
i know. it’s something more than that. but i want to own a bike like this. and thats what i need as part of the ownership package.
It does indeed look like it was meant to be from the factory. Many engine swaps in both cars and bikes end up looking like hatchet jobs with rats nest wiring and hokey motor mounts, so this is very well executed from what I can see.
“500cc 2 stroke twin, 286 pound bike, … think about that!”
I think I like it!
Chris, Yes your right, the video reminds me of a movie in High School shop class that ends up with blood on the floor. The bike is still Great, That 2 stroke cackle has been absent from the street for too long! With modern Injection lets hope this can pass the EPA standards.
that video, wtf?!?!
Isn’t that the long-lost footage from Revenge of the Nerds: Race Day?
Very nice and thanks for keeping us updated on this project. Yes, it will be interesting to read the full review and to see how the bikes sell. I hope the manufacturers do well wnough to have a dedicated frame for it in the future. Two stroke power and light weight should make this a desirable beast.
Tularis 820cc 2 stroke: 273 lbs, 168 hp at the wheel. I still have a woodie 5 years later….
I want one!
But how much (in US $) for the complete motor???
If under $5000 I would be interested.
Awesome. Of course, I’d be stoked if I could just have the stock RS250.

I’d agree the video is a bit hokey but, dman, I like the engineering!
taxman wants a local dealership to maintain it. Hell man, just ship the whole ting back to Cairns for a tune-up !!! Think of the fun you’ll have blowing the glass right off those ‘Busa boys.
What a sleeper ….. Aprillia frame …. Deal’s Gap, here I come!
Hee Hee !!! I’m giddy for this .
I love this, and there was an Aprilia RS250 for sale here recently with a blown motor. If only I hadnt vowed not to spend more money on bikes this year (dang economy…)
I think what sold me is the red ano carb bellmouths.
That’s so awesome. Two strokes are the stuff!
wicked bike
would like one of these over any current liter bike
if only within the sm eprice range
Next up lets see a 1000cc in line 4, 2 stroke style. WOOHOO
Looks like they have prices posted now. $6500 AUS for parts to convert your RZ/Banshee engine.
$2500 AUS for refurbished RZ/Banshee lower end converted to accept to above parts.
$885 AUS for parts to put said engine in YOUR RS250.
Got a blown up RS250 lying around? It’s an option.
Super motorcycle, I would love to see and hear it in person. Oh, and ride it as well. Nothing like a lightweight 2 stroke street bike to annihilate the masses, could this be the 2 stroke savior?
…………the 4 stroke masses!
