The Kneeslider Has a New Look

by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider" on 12/27/2008

in Kneeslider

The paint cans and tools are still lying all over the place but The Kneeslider has a whole new look. It's been a couple of years since any major changes and it was time to stretch out and get a little more room.

A few sections of the site have not yet been converted and there are quite a few little tweaks still necessary, type sizes in some places and other minor issues are not resolved but everything should work. Over the coming days you'll see the site continue to evolve but it's close to final form.

If you go somewhere on the site and things are completely broken, please drop me a line and let me know so I can take care of it. And let me know what you think!

Very nice! I appreciate the clean look, which also has the added benefit of making things easier to find.

Great, but one suggestion: make it compatible for DIGG!!

As a motorcyclist first and a web designer second, I approve this redesign.

nice cleanup. does not work on the mac firefox. something is wrong with the widths. sidebar on the right overruns the content on the left.

Jacques 12.29.08 at 2:45 pm

Same thing as Sash, the sidebar looking for room, but with Explorer on a PC.

kneeslider 12.29.08 at 3:13 pm

Hmm, … I’ve tested quite a bit on a PC with both Explorer and Firefox with no issues. Guess I have to dig into this a bit more. Are you running the latest version of the browser?

Looks good. Now make the photos clickable to go to high res versions. You find so much unique content with no way of getting a close up look without having to go elsewhere.

it’s getting so that you can’t buy a standard monitor anymore, they’re all widescreen! too many websites are not taking advantage of this, and look anemic. I’ve got a standard 20″ lcd, and this site still has 2″ of unused landscape
on each side! sure wish there was a fix, and I’m glad I didn’t go widescreen.
nice work Paul!

Sash and Jacques, I have an idea of what might be the issue, it will take some work to fix but it seems to be a minority of users who experience it.

Superdude4agze, I’m working on some image options. A wider content column allows bigger images even without a zoom which is a step in the right direction but more options are on the way.

zipidachimp, the old look and width were getting, well, … old, but I have to limit how wide I go until everyone gets wide screens.

Thanks for all of the input from everyone!
