"Demand (misguided customer?) driven" design cycle is about to end, soon, I hope.!
In the real world, perhaps only way down the road unfortunately, we will have well designed, nimble, easy to control, easy to pay-for motorbikes, 350 to 650 cc's, plenty of power and speed, that DO NOT weigh a ton, DO NOT cost a small fortune and DO last more than a few years or (several) hundred thousand kilometers.
Until then, Ducati (Tricolore desmo) is not one of them. Check what you paid against what you got. :-( .

Not one but two recalls in one year for my 1098? WOW,first the rear sprocket and now the voltage regulator , I believe due to the fast rate to mass produce these bikes to compete with other bike manufacturers, are the reason for the faults in design, leading to the recall that you are experiencing. Ducati is not the only one, kowasaki's concourse, has a rear brake pedal recall, with no solution to fix it yet, what is going on..

i bought my 848 a year ago this month... it caught fire whilst riding in may after 1300 miles.. ducati did replace the bike at the time leaving me to pay the on the road fees again.. my new bike broke down with battery failure injuly after another regulator failure.... just glad it never caught fire eh..... ducati recommended at change to the regulator by fitting a old 749 reg... well the bike rides... but my confidence is gone after the recall letter i have received today..
