Carl Myers left a comment the other day pointing to the Cy-Car TigerCat 3V2 concept, a Harley Davidson powered trike in the old Morgan style. There are several drawings of potential body configurations and they're looking for a little feedback, which direction looks best to you?
Carl has owned a couple of motorcycle dealerships and also worked at Suzuki and Bombardier. He's teamed up with Martin Waide, a veteran of the Lotus Car Company, and its racing team, Team Lotus, and they're on the path to producing this 3 wheeler that looks pretty cool. They're using a Toyota transmission plus a number of proprietary Cy-Car pieces which will give this trike an estimated curb weight of about 950 pounds. With horsepower anywhere from stock up to about 120, the car should have no problems getting around and it looks like a fun ride.
Head over to their site for a few more images and a look at some of the hard parts. They're coming along quite nicely, once the body style is firmed up, they'll be able to get this on the road. Nice work, guys!

The second and third drawings, in particular, look like a cross between a boat and a Porsche 914
I probably wouldn’t have thought of that without your Ariel Square-Four wooden car post from the other day, but there you go.

I like # 2. It not only looks more proportional and integrated, but it is original (which could disqualify it if your plan is to tap into the Morgan-style)
Nice idea, but regardless of which design looks best, the H-D powerplant remains too tame. A new crankcase and two cylinders off a Wright Cyclone radial (or a P&W) would look better. The rest of the vehicle could be scaled up 10% to match, and thus have enough room for the average US buyer.
You know, the engine Ian Douglas put together for the Warbird would be perfect!

I like all of them, no.2 looks cool in a mechanix illustrated kind of retro modernist way.
I like it except the exhaust. Harley’s are known for loud, so might as well slap a proper set of lake pipes on it!
Lakes Pipes? Wah? How bout Cobra side pipes with perforated heat shields! A Brooklands box & a fish tail would look like they belong.
Love the Duval windscreen & the bonnet lines! Maybe a wing on the roll-over bar? MG TF type suicide doors? How bout a Beetle Back like a Morgan Aero? Maybe a Miller 91 FWD Radiator shell to reduce the “Chunky” factor at the front of the cowl?
As for Harley engines, maybe an S & S 131 or their new X-Wedge. No shortage of HP or style there!
The basic proportions look right & seem suitable for the Retro &/or the Rat look. Other than the phony back deck on the 3rd image (#6) they’ve all got a good feel about them.
I’ll clear a spot in the garage for any one of the 3! Or maybe all 3! Beauty!
Is that a beam axle under the front? Perfect for a Hot Rod Trike! Original Mogs (even current Mogs!) have a “Sliding Pillar” front suspension. Fairly easy to duplicate I’d think. Real Vintage look!
Yeah all three LOOK cool. But what about functionality? Where’s the trunk space? Cup holders? Laugh if you will. But where are you going to put that Dunkin Donuts coffee and your weekend bag? Hey a Hummer is cool, so Is an Escalade…but you know none of yall want to but the gas for em. Lets not follow the big 3 with our dreams.
Oh yeah…it needs to use the s&s X wedge!
All three look very good to me. If I had to rank them in order of preference I would say #6, #1, then #2 as shown above. When can we buy one of these?
I live in the North West and rain is a constant. Any chance these will come with removable roofs? #6 is my choice for the best of the three designs pictured.
Sorry for being so long in getting back to your question. Yes there will be cup holders, GPS holders, Cell phone, Radio, Camera, all built into this design. We will show it later on our site as well as a “T-Top Gull Wing” Removable Roof. It will never be completely rain or weather proof because it is designed as a “Open Car”.

We HOPE to have limited Pre-Production started late this fall with sales starting in Spring of 2010. Estamated price is in the mid-30’s for the Basic Car.

The beam axle was choosen because we wanted a certin “Look”. The Hot-Rod and Motorcycle combination is tough to achieve but we hope that everyone will get the idea!!

Some but not all of the ideas shown in the current drawings will come to the market. The final design will be shown at a private Board of Directors Meeting this month. Final approval will allow us to begin showing the car and the design to the public sometime in April. Keep yopur eye peeled to our site to see the “Un-vailing”
