Buell has issued a recall for some 2007 and 2008 Buell Blasts. The fuel tank may deform under certain conditions, contacting the engine and causing a leak. Please read the details below.
Manufacturer: Buell Motorcycle Company
Model Year: 2007-2008
Models affected: Blast
NHTSA Campaign Number: 08V439000
Potential Units Affected: 1307
Problem: Buell is recalling 1,307 model year 2007-2008 Blast motorcycles. The fuel tank may experience some local deformation under high-heat conditions that creates contact of the tank with the cylinder head. In some of these cases, the cylinder head rubbing on the fuel tank has created a fuel leak. This could result in a crash or fire, which could cause injury or death to the rider.
Corrective Action: Dealers will install a bracket which will prevent the fuel tank from contacting the cylinder head. The recall is expected to begin on or before September 8, 2008. Owners may contact Buell at 1-414-343-8400.

I keep waiting for Buell to redesign this little bike and make it a bike many of us want.
Come on Erik, we know Buell has talent and style, please let a little of it drip off onto the blast.
Man, I have a 2007. Son-of-a.
Plastic tank..??
Yeah, it has a plastic tank. Just about all the black pieces you see in the photo are plastic, except under the tank.
What’s all the hipe about plastic parts ? It’s nothing new . Plus there is a fix no big deal .
Had a blast. Always leaked at the petcock. How about a dual sport? My Blast would drag a speed bump in the parkinglot. Hey Eric!! A DUALSPORT BLAST.
Dualsport Blast . Now that would be neat . What ever happened to the Motocross bike that was rumored to coming ? That would be a great nich bike give the KLR a little competition eh ?
Contacted the dealer to schedule the recall fix on Sept 17th (day after i was notified) Harley isn’t shipping the repair part for at least another week… This will be at least a month of down time. I didn’t think this was the kind of customer support I’d get from The Motor co.
The Kneeslider does not endorse nor imply agreement with any particular comment just because we let it stand, but, you already knew that.
