Detonator Fantasy Concept Motorcycle by Daniel Simon
October 31st, 2007 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
A question in the comments about one of the ads on The Kneeslider brings us to this fantasy concept motorcycle. It’s called the Detonator and it is the work of Daniel Simon. As pointed out on his website, there is no intention of this being a functional motorcycle, it was just a design produced by combining basic shapes like cubes and cylinders.
Some of you, who are adept at using the advanced 3D design software available these days, may find nothing remarkable about this bike or his other designs but I find this sort of thing really creative. He has quite a display on his site covering lots of different subject material.
He has a background as an intern with Lamboghini and then work for both Bugatti and VW. Quite a capable fellow. He has a book, Cosmic Motorscoming out soon, too. If you like design ideas, you might want to check out his site, I think it’s well worth the time.
Thanks, Hugo, for providing the link!

It’s a cafe racer, 200 years into the future =)
I like it! I can’t get over how realistic-looking it is.

Very cool looking.
Hey Roger Bourget!
Hire this guy so you can have a creative designer on staff, maybe he can make that piece of crap you call a quad look good.

I like the fact that all his designs have explanations and some of them have technical descriptions. Thats a fun site to explore.

I would love to see a motorcycle with in hub electric motors be designed and come into fruition. It wouldn’t affect me either way if it was styled contemporary or futuristic like this. I just like the idea of a 2 wheel drive bike, and electric power as well.

I beg to differ, but this thing looks like the articulated lighting device that the dentist uses to look into the patient’s mouth.

It looks an awful lot like America’s Most Beautiful Motorcycle.

Except “America’s Most Beautiful Motorcycle” is very, very ugly.

At first glance I couldn’t tell which direction it was headed. Very creative but………

It looks like a sex robot on wheels. Not that that’s a bad thing at all. Just an observation.

Designing a motorcycle is easy if you ignore the requirements for a credible means of propulsion and any measure of drivability. I would’ve guessed that removing those limitations would also allow it to be LESS THAN COMPLETELY UGLY as well, but I guess not.

If it was a sex robot on wheel’s you’d know which way it was headed pretty fast.
