2008 Indianapolis MotoGP Website Goes Live

As promised, the 2008 Indianapolis Red Bull MotoGP website went live yesterday with complete details and information about next year's race to be held September 14th. The track layout shown above will be 2.601 miles (4.186 km) long, will feature 16 turns (10 left, 6 right) and will run in a counter clockwise direction.

A new 4 turn complex is being built at the end of the front straight which will create an 800 foot runoff area for bikes approaching at high speed. A number of other changes are being made to increase rider safety which will improve safety for drivers in automotive racing events, as well.

Next year's race will be the first time motorcycles have run at the Speedway since 1909. The central location should result in a huge draw from the central and eastern portions of the country along with fans from the western states and Canada. The U.S. is certainly large enough in both geographic size and population to support a second race and a lot of fans, including myself, are looking forward to this.

Tickets are already on sale for next year. You may order online, by mail or on the phone. It would probably be wise to order early if you plan to attend.
