Female Mechanics Needed for 2008 Calendar
May 23rd, 2007 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
Sarah Lyon is looking for female mechanics for the 2008 edition of the Female Mechanics Calendar Project. As you may recall, Sarah set out last year on a ride across the U.S. to photograph and interview female mechanics in their daily work environments, compiling the results into the 2007 Female Mechanics Calendar. You can still buy the 2007 calendar from her website and Sarah says the results were so encouraging she has plans to do it all again this summer, riding across the country on her BMW R100S, visiting woman at work and giving them the chance to tell their story in photos and words.
This isn’t a display of women in skimpy outfits with a token wrench in their hands, this calendar shows real mechanics at work, giving a little encouragement to the women who might like to get their hands dirty, fixing and repairing all of the neat things the rest of us work on.
If you know someone who should be considered for this calendar or if you are a woman who knows how to wrench, whether it’s on an automobile, motorcycle, diesel, aircraft, military vehicle, scooter, bicycle, hot rod, or anything else, drop over to Sarah’s website and let her know.
