VentureOne Tilting 3 Wheeler
February 18th, 2007 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
The VentureOne is a new vehicle design based on the Carver tilting vehicle but substitutes either a hybrid or all electric drivetrain in place of the more conventional internal combustion power in the Carver. I think the image above which shows a more fully faired or extended front end design looks better than the Carver but everything else seems to capture all of the same benefits of the enclosed passenger compartment, tilt and fun driving experience.
In both versions, the actual drive to the wheels is through in wheel electric motors. Power comes from batteries, charged both by plugging in to the grid and regenerative braking plus, in the hybrid version, a small internal combustion engine running an onboard generator.
Hybrid versions are projected to attain at least 100 mpg, speeds over 100 mph and 0-60 in 6 seconds or less, with a range of 300 miles. The all electric version will have a speed of 75 mph and 0-60 in 8 seconds with a range of 120 miles.
This looks like an excellent design and could be a lot of fun to drive but concept vehicles are coming out almost every day and, especially in the case of designs like this one, seeing one running in the real world and comparing actual performance to projected numbers will make a lot of difference in how well this vehicle does in the marketplace. It does look nice, though, and I’ll be eager to see the VentureOne on the road.
Thanks for the tip, Zoltan!

wow. it’s so much better looking than the carver. even if they kept the same mechanicals from the carver and put this new body on it, it would sell. electric engines are nice and all, but who are we kidding? most people buy based on looks, and this looks great.

I like the concept and all, but I have just one question. Why can’t they design a tilting 3 wheeler that actually looks GOOD? The Carver isn’t pretty, sure, but this one is even less so. The Triazuma looked good to me, I’m just not a fan of this styling though.

Don’t get t-boned in one of these things, dang! That could sting a bit.
That and the back seat is waaay too small to get busy in.

I can clearly see a trend with all these trikes emerging here and there.

BIG thumbs up! …and for under $20K? I must test ride one SOON! Too bad the Can-Am Spyder doesn’t tilt. I’d love to see one that you “ride” like a motorcycle, has 2 wheels in the front (one in back) and banks deep into corners.

Pete, have you seen the new Piaggio MP3 and the Gilera Fuoco?
It`s more a scooter than a motorcycle but it has 2 front wheels and banks like a bike.

This is a great idea… Spacey (if not spacious) and futuristic looking, great fuel economy and respectable driving speed. Like it or not, these vehicles or others like them are the wave of the future. They may be a bit odd looking, but with ever increasing fuel prices and growing environmental concerns our sports cars, SUVs and pick-up trucks just won’t keep up forever. It may be a year from now, or a decade, but sooner or later these vehicles are going to become commonplace.
I am curious about one thing though… how would one take a family of four on a grocery run in one of these things? LOL
