The weekend auction of Steve McQueen’s memorabilia brought some high bidders out, a pair of his sunglasses went for $70,000, his 1956 GMC pickup went for $110,000 plus taxes and fees and the 1937 Crocker, at the motorcycle auction immediately following the McQueen auction, brought $245,000 and with all of the fees added on that’s about $270,000.

The Crocker has been growing in popularity recently, featured at the Monterey show last year, and as we reported last month, the Crocker Motorcycle Company in Canada is going to produce kits of these old and rare beauties. The Crocker isn’t well known, even among motorcycle enthusiasts, unless you’re somewhat interested in vintage bikes but they were gorgeous machines. I think they look really good, especially the engine. Of course, since so few Crockers were actually produced, a real one is unlikely to show up in anyone’s garage except maybe now you might see one in kit form and when an original comes up for sale, like this one, they bring the big bucks.
