SMS Triumph by MRD

Pat French, builder of the Rickman Metisse Harley Davidson, is still going strong at M.R.D. He has since teamed up with Chris Loosmore and they are now building several motorcycles, one of which is an interesting bike called the SMS Triumph. SMS is short for Sunday Morning Special.

The bike has a chrome moly oil bearing frame, like the Metisse Harley and is one of their "flat trackers for the street" as they like to call them. They also build a Freemore Goldie and a Pre Unit Triumph. Look like interesting rides.

So why is it that they can do a nice job with the Harley, but the Triumph is hideous? Those headlights… ugh…

Still, it’s always nice to see a custom Triumph, even if I don’t like the style.

heh! If you’re gonna base opinion on the whole bike because of the headlight…. wow. Much nicer than the sportster based bike. I think I’m beginning to see what the marketing guys are up against, now.

My question: would bikes like these be a hit in America? What if the *entire* motorcycle was new? Not just a rebuit motor in a new frame…

I have to agree about the headlight. The rest of the lines of the bike “flow”. A round light in a shallow bucket would work better, imho.
