Diesel Racers in 1952
March 20th, 2006 at 8:55 am by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
Here we are making a big fuss about diesel powered racers and Tom leaves a cryptic comment and mentions Fred Agabashian. Fred raced in the Indy 500 many times but in 1952 he started from the pole position in his Cummins Diesel powered racer. He finished 27th completing 71 laps. I didn’t know that! Thanks, Tom.

Indy’s seen some wierd stuff: turbines, two strokes (a modded boat motor i think!) I couldn’t remember if there was a diesel or not…

wouldn’t it be cool if Dodge built a sports car (like the crossfire?) with a cummins TD. They could make the most out of this publicity shot.
