Ecosse promising two new motorcycles
January 15th, 2006 at 8:26 am by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"
Ecosse Moto Works, makers of the Heretic, are set to introduce two new models, the X-4 and X-5, both powered by American V-twins. According to an article in Robb Report, the X-4 “recreates the KR759 Road Racer with a bad ass 1960s attitude” while the X-5 “is a radical 21st century transfiguration of the X-4.” A couple of rough sketches give very vague indications of what the bikes might be like. Their Heretic is a pretty nice bike on its own and it will be interesting to see what these new models look like.
The Ecosse website has no mention of the new bikes and it promises a new site, probably with the X-4 and X-5 featured, will debut in January 2006, which according to my calendar is half over. Stay tuned.
Update: Just happened to check their site today (Jan, 22nd) To see if the new bikes were out and I see they haven’t updated anything, in fact they let their domain name expire! Not a good move …

L’America a 2 ruote cresce e cresce…e crescerà. [...]

Who else would like to see a bike buildoff among Ecosse, Curt Winter, Confederate, & American Cafe Racer ? This wouldn’t be your typical pop-culture cruiser buildoff b.s. Take an in-depth look at these bikes and then compare not only the bikes aesthetics but their performance on a road course.
The major moto magazines publish 2 comparisons every year: one for the latest 600 cc sportbikes and one for the latest 1000 cc sportbikes. Interesting reading but somewhat repeated year after year.
What about comparing the above big twin bikes? It could help move the custom bike building boom into a sport direction.
A capable chassis holding an engine with triple digit torque numbers down low in the rev has got to be a hoot.
