Harley Davidson Police Bikes still going
January 6th, 2006 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"Just a quick update if you haven’t been following the discussion on an earlier post, the HD police bike is still being produced. There was, however, one model, the Dyna Defender, that has been discontinued. I’ve never followed the different HD police models, in fact I didn’t even know they had multiple models. I think there is only one Honda and BMW with different levels of accessories for the police riders.
When you think about it, there really should be a wide range of police bikes offered, riding environments differ quite a bit across the country.
Thanks to Mulder and Shooter for clearing things up.

Paiggio and Malaguti offer factory police-equiped scooters. NYC uses a fleet of police Piaggio LT200s to patrol Manhattan. “Optimum presence, appropriate response.”

I’ve seen both 650 and 1150 bmw bikes here, although the 650 was a demo that was not ultimately purchaced. i ex[ect the 800 parallel twin will be outfitted in the future in place of the thumper. I just found an image of the copbike i saw while in the uk! http://www.manor.org/cbr/P001513.jpg shows the cbr1100xx in police trim.
